Comp Package or Dinan

I am starting the process of ordering my next one. All along, I thought I would get the Comp package but now I am thinking that for just a bit more I can do Dinan work.

Thoughts? If I am comfortable spending another 4-5k over the comp, should I just do the Dinan upgrades and have something unique?

Dinan's draw back then is because they would warranty from dealerships for BMW but that is no longer the case. Dinan is also piggyback, which HP gain is iffy at best. Lower springs from Dinan is only lowering spring, not true suspension change.

ZCP offers way more and especially with OEM it is always better.

After installing Dinan stage 1 i was blown away at the power over stock. The car is a whole new beast, mid range pull is ridiculous.

Have you ever driven a Non-Dinan tuned F8x car?

Dinan has certainly lost its luster and is not what it once was. I would pass entirely on Dinan. It wouldn't even be in my consideration set. How they're selling that piggyback for $2,600+ with a straight face is beyond me. Anyhow, there are far better options out there from the many tuning outfits. BPM, VF, PTF, etc.

I would definitely go comp pack, no question. However, if you're a bit of a risk taker there are now a myriad of tuning options that can get your civic M3 to perform like a zcp/cs/etc...
but if you're strictly an oem guy, go with the zcp.

I am just looking for something special that doesn’t mess with the warranty. The comp pack is great and i was set on it until I saw how Dinan was a bit more for what I perceived to be a big step up and something unique. If it isn’t a step up or messes with the warranty, I am out.

Dinan messes with the warranty.

So, that's out.

ZCP or CS is your only option then.

Thanks. Dinan needs to update their marketing materials. I would have moved on them and been in a pickle.

There is a misconception about Dinan and warranty. Dinan gives you THEIR warranty not BMW's own warranty. When BMW denies a warranty Dinan is supposed to pick it up. BMW doesn't support Dinan, it depends on the dealership if it allows it or not but if something happens BMW will most probably blame Dinan as it aftermarket.

However with all aftermarket warranty it is iffy at best. You never know if Dinan will actually do the warranty.

Never count on Dinan for warranty. They charge extra for piggyback that doesn't really give you that much performance advantage. ZCP is better in a lot of ways because BMW does more with ZCP than a slight HP bump.

I had a 15 M4, and a 18 M3 ZCP. ZCP is a big difference. Don't skip ZCP. Everyone that I know that skipped ZCP ended up regretting it.

The whole appeal of the premium Dinan charges is that you have your BMW warranty and Dinan warranty (OEM coverage remains with the tune). This thread is telling me that isn’t the case, so I am moving on - unless someone says I am getting bad info.

ZCP seems like a “nice” upgrade but not noticeable to a novice like me. I was looking for the Dinan badge and “hold my beer” potential. Maybe I will just do ZCP and MPE.

What aspect of the Dinan are you looking for in performance? I care most about suspension so I ordered ZCP with m Performance suspension and it's covered since BMW is doing the install. There are options out there like this for 1 or 2 performance mods but I don't believe for engine through BMW.

The appeal that they offered (to me) was a turnkey modification that provided HP gains well beyond stock. I like the sound of their exhaust and their wheels too. And the badge

ZCP = positive resale $ benefit
Dinan = zero resale $ benefit

I had Dinan stuff on my E46 M3. No complaints, it made improvements. However, I got $0.00 back for every $1.00 I spent. Used buyers don’t pay for aftermarket upgrades.

And neither does the dealership on trades.

You want the Dinan badge????

That's the last thing I would want

Just go ZCP OP or better yet aftermarket flash tune (BPM, VF, PTF)

I want clarification on this as well. Has something specifically changed between Dinan and BMW? I get that Dinan has their own warranty, but it was my understanding that the two companies would figure out while was at fault if something went wrong and it wouldn't fall on the consumer regardless.

Dinan is cool as far as branding but my BMS Stage 1 for the price-to performance ratio is a monster. Car feels like it’s pushing 600.

Almost every car maker has cracked down on aftermarket and Dinan is no exception. Dinan also changed their owner from what I can recall so... That is the other thing.

Dinan is not Alphine, so in my eyes Dinan isn't worth the price tag they shoved on their products all because of "warranty".
