MY2019 M4 already?

I placed my order with the dealer on December 7, 2017 (M4,CP, Grigio Telesto). Was told it would go into production on Feb 7, 2018. I just found out today that the allocation for Grigio Telesto has been filled for 2018 models and I will now be getting a 2019. They claim the 2019 will be delivered by late April, 2018. Can this be true? I’ve already waited 2 months and was prepared to wait 4/5 but not sure if I’m being strung along. Any thoughts on this. Thanks!

2019 model in april of 18? Last time I checked 19s won't start production till july time frame. I text David to see if any of this has changed but as far as I know it has not

do you have a production number? If you dont have a production number you dont have a allocation.

My 2018 M4 ZCP was actually built on the 15th of May 2017 and my friend's 2018 M4 was built a month earlier in April so this could be possible.

Off topic question but...BMW has a predetermined limited amount of runs for a certain individual color choice, per a MY, per a certain model? If so, that is news to me.

OP it sounds like you are being strung along and the dealership just doesn't have an allocation for you.

The color excuse seems quite odd, furthermore they would not be able to tell you right now that you will have an April 2018 build for a 2019 model year.

The new year models usually become available around September. They start making them around the end of July, beginning of August .... At least that's how the previous model years started.... Maybe they changed something this year.

Well, as said above, some 2018 M4s were being built in April and May of last year.

Exactly, I don't know what are they arguing about, I just told you what my last M4's production date was for next year's model! April, and May....

Maybe things were difference before but that's how mine was and it's a 2018 so that's what the latest trend is...

Then again, model years for other areas of the world start earlier than model years for the US

The MY19s may be released in that timeframe, but don't use the MY18s as an example as it was an LCI release and LCIs are often released three to six months earlier than normal.

Thanks everyone! It sounds like things could go either way. However, I’ve learned that if I don’t have a production number, I don’t have an allocation. I’ll be pushing for this. One thing for sure, I’ll probably have the first MY19 M4/CP in Grigio Telesto in the US. I’ll share pics once received - whenever that will be...

I don't think anyone knows that, but it's doubtful as MY18 was the LCI year.

Well the one thing we know for sure is it won't have the Carbon Fiber Drive Shaft but a steel one

Yes, one of the awesome features of the M4 was that it had a CFRP Drive Shaft and unfortunately, any car which was produced on November 2017 moving forward will only have the steel shaft.

I doubt any of us would notice a even minute difference in driving characteristics unless you have a dedicated track/race car.

Exclamation 2019 M4

I tried to place order for M4 this weekend, but was told that 2018 M4 production, at least for European delivery was no longer available.
I have to wait until hopefully JUNE when I should be at least able to see 2019 model online, and possibly place order, and production to be in JULY. Problem is that I had planned for AUGUST trip already, with tickets and some hotels, which I cannot now change, so not sure if I will be able to have M4 ready by my travel date. My mistake, I know, but where I work, I have to make plans and take my vacation, wayahead of time, so would have been hard to first place order, then make my travel plans. I never imagined that early 2018, production for that year would already stop. I had heard that M3 had been stopped, in the Roundel magazine, due to some changes to new M3, in order to be able to re-fit the factory I suppose, but M4 was (is?) not expected to have much of change, so was not supposed to be stopped.
BMW is very closed about how things work, and getting information is near impossible. There seem to be a lot of sites about "2019 M4" that appear to be just generated by robots, or otherwise are foreign sites with very bad translation software, and don't really give much information.

Don't know what to tell you. I have a European Delivery scheduled for the end of June for my 2018 F83 CP Grigio Telesto. Production was completed 3rd weak of April. My order was placed Jan 11.
