Camber plates and engine mods

Hi there guys,
I was wondering, did some of you do mechanical mods? I'm thinking camber plates ? Ground control or Vorschlag ? Also, when I see friends of mine on track with 550-600 bhp stage 2 M3-4's I become jealous ? Anyone who has tried downpipes and/or ecu modding ?
Cheers!

No mods on mine. The only thing I have considered are camber plates. I bought the GC plates, but I have not installed them yet.

As far as HP goes, the car has plenty. I wouldn't be concerned about the other 500-600hp M3-4's. If you can get everything out of the GTS, your quite some driver.

IMSA and DTM cars have about the same HP as the M4 GTS, so it's not about the engine. You can turn and brake much better than those cars. Jealousy is not healthy, man! Seek inner peace...at Spa!

Both very true. Although the 2 main tracks I visit each have a nice long straight (1.1km at one track and .6 mile at the other) I watch some higher HPcars pull away from me and then takes my 1/3 of next lap to reel them back. For example my E92M3 has 632whp and I am peaking 250km/hr at end of .6mile straight and the GTS hits 235km/hr. With a tad more power it would have the legs and I would not look back. I am installing Swain coated DP's and tuning the DME next week.

P.S. nothing to do with jealousy lol

Have you tracked it since the plates?
Improved handling or just better tire wear?(or both?)
I'm on the fence.

Hurdle the fence Barry! 1 extra degree of camber does improve handling and tyre wear is greatly improved.

Yes I have. In the small track time attack events I ran, I believe I knocked off 1/2 a second. But ultimately I wanted better front tire wear, which I’m sure (coupled with monitoring tire temps) has occurred.

I didn’t run any road courses pre / post unfortunately to be able to comment. For the cost of tires, the GC plates are definitely a great investment ✔️

Ok I'm over the fence....
GC are the only ones I've heard of (here). Any other's to be considered yet?
I need new fronts, again but want to get the camber situation sorted before I burn through another set.
Thinking of trying 305s in the rear.....

The build quality of GC is incredible. No regrets at all. ✔️

GC's are really nice, plus the orange color is a nice bonus. They are made specifically to fit the KW setup on the GTS.

Be aware that you lose the cushioning at the strut attachment. I get clunks going over harsh bumps on the street, but I find the extra camber is a must for the track, especially MRLS and Sonoma. I should be getting 4, maybe 5 days out of the current set of tires. I haven't yet gone back to try the BMW Cup2's, though, after the camber change, as I've been using the Mercedes version on my M3 and now the GTS and I'm very happy with the wear and the performance.

How much cheaper is the MB version? I'm thinking of trying r888's. Have them in my e36 track car and do well.

Roughly the same price, at least at Tire Rack.

Yes, that clunking is going to happen due to the solid spherical bearing in the camber plate.

I will give you mine and Schnell325's experience. We had one that clunked and we spoke to GC about it. They had us return it and they informed us that some of the spherical bearing clearances were too great. I can tell you mine and Mikes do not clunk. Have you informed GC of your noise?

I just bought GC camber plates and are getting them put on this week. Any suggestions on where to start with camber?

Give a update with the tune you decide to use. I'm interested also now that we can tune the ECU directly.

I'm undecided about tuning a GTS. If you have a F80/82 you can get a Dinan tune and have a safety margin. There is no Dinan tune for the GTS. So if you tune it, In a unlikely case that anything happens with the engine you may have some explaining to do and BMW May say you're on your own....

Just to followup from a while back, Trevor@GC asked me to record the sounds, and based on what was coming from the left strut, sent me a new slider and bearing and it totally solved the issue. Thanks so much for the heads up.
