2 years since owning an E90 M3
it's been 2 years since I joined this forum (although I am not the most active member, I do check it at least once a week). It's also 2 year since the purchase of my M3. Time does fly when you're having fun and the m3 is my daily driver, I've spent some money upfront to do the rod bearings and will be chalking up the funds do to a DCT maintenance. Since owning the car I've done the following:
21000km of driving rod bearings replacement test pipe k&n air filter 3 oil changes (not including the ones done when RB was changed) rear diffuser M front things alpine mss dct and stage 2 tune 2 car washes a set of 18s for summer (volks te37) ps4s for the oem 19s for winter i am still enjoying every time i drive the car in the peak hour traffic and when I drive it in anger when required. the m3 is my favorite car so far, I've stopped driving my weekender for a while. hopefully i will do a 3rd year ownership post. point of this post? I am not sure, just thought I would post my feels on the ownership of an m3.. Last edited by phillay; 09-11-2018 at 06:42 PM.. |

Good on you for the post. Great to hear from someone like myself who hasn't lost the attraction to one of the best cars out there!

So it’s a daily driver but you only washed it twice in 12 months?? Do you mean personally washed it twice and Other times it’s been done by someone else or just twice? Haha |

You run 18's in the summer and 19's in the winter...?? Can I ask why?

i prefer the 18s over 19s in term of wheel size, my 18s are hankook RS4s. and the 19s are wrapped in michelin PS4s.
I actually only washed the car twice during the last 12 months as my car is parked outside, I usually spend 4-5 hours claying the car give it a good cut and polish. 4 days later it's dirty again. I have a 3 car garage but they are full of old cars that can't be parked out or they would rust and die. M front things - hahah mind blank, was meant to go back and edit, just remembered they are called splitters. |

Thanks for sharing the experience, Ive owned my E90 335 for 1 year now as well and looking to upgrade to E90 M3 in the near future.
So from what ive read and researched is that i must put aside some cash to do rod bearings unless previous owner has done them?

I did it for peace of mind, the bearings were in poor condition. I tend to drive my car very hard when there's room to and it's also my daily driver that idles in peak hour traffic. so yes, I would recommend BE bearing change based on my own experience. |
