Brake swap?
Has anyone swapped out the CCB's? Faced with my first front rotor swap (11 track days; 7 days for the pads), I'm actively considering putting on a AP 9668/9449 setup. It'd be nearly a wash with just the front swap not even considering the rears and would drop the consumables bill by probably 2/3rds.
OTOH, I have no complaints about the CCBs on track and can push the car very hard for 25 minutes with no perceptible fade and can easily get into ABS with the PSC2's the whole time. I've had what I think is a little knockback a few times but otherwise I'm happy, and they're still fine for the street without having to do a pad swap. Does everyone's car have rubber lines? The shop pointed it out as surprising and, in fact, the GTS tech manual (pinned post) explicitly says the brakes have braided lines, so I'm not sure what's up. |

CCB can indeed become quite costly with regular track use. I wondered why BMW did not offer an iron setup as a no cost option for the GTS.
Have you considered the new brake upgrade option offered for the M2-Competition? 6-piston front and 4 piston rear callipers with 400mm/380mm front/rear rotors. I even wonder if the rotors could be a straight fit for the M3/4 CCB setup (or if the callipers would also need to be changed).

Before you do anything with brakes, always talk to Clark at Apex Performance. He's the man when it comes to anything track brake. He might have to research a bit for the GTS, but I've trusted him with my Porsche for several years. He's legendary, and has a huge Porsche following, too. (That time also includes my killing a set of front rotors that cost $13,000 to replace with OEM Porsche CCB rotors, which I will not be doing ever again!!)

I would take advantage of BMW's free maintenance replacement of those CCBs and rotors before swapping them out. 2016 BMWs are the last models to have these covered.
If you even decide to sell the car, you can put back the rotors and pads before selling.

Damn, I learned something new then.
From the warrany booklet: Exclusions from coverage include the following: <Optional Carbon Ceramic Brake System brake rotors and pads> (Page 2) So this means any BMW with CCBs are not covered then.

I've read some chatter that bmw removed that language from their website here: https://www.bmwusa.com/explore/bmw-v...onditions.html
Not entirely sure if that was intentional

the reason ceramics are not covered under warranty are because theoretically they just last far past the warranty period on normal driving, Ex they should last 100,000 miles easily on street driving.
This is the reason per BMW |

I much prefer the feel of iron brakes vs the CCBs. But changing the CCB to have an iron rotor weighs 30lb per rotor... completely insane.
The best option is to swap for a BBK. I'd likely adapt my PFC Z54 to fit the F8X |
