Neither. That's why I opted to purchase an M3 steering wheel and have it wrapped in BMW alcantara with M-stitch. Retains the factory heating mechanism and gets rid of that ridiculous blue stripe on the M-Performance version. Bada bing!

I had the v2 wheel for a few months but ended up taking it off as I wasn't feeling the alcantara

I also found the blue stripe really annoying in my foreground vision, though I was getting used to it

The actual profile and thickness is great, but they need to offer a full leather version with heating for those of us who paid for that option

But atm you can't beat the oe wheel with heating

I couldn’t handle the blue stripe so I went for the M4CS wheel which is full alcantara but with silver band at the top and I’m very pleased with it. Nice and rare too.

V2 is the best. Feels great & compels you to place hands in the proper position. Get with custom color stripe. Worth the wait. Love stock but the leather always becomes a maintainace item. OCD.

I'm loving the V2 so far. Then again the blue stripe people have knocked goes really well with the YMB. If I had any other color I'd probably get the V2 from IND and get a diff color stripe that they offer.

In my opinion, the best steering wheel and paddle shifter combination is the V2 plus Pedal Haus black shifters. Enjoy!

How is the thickness of this wheel? I was kicking around doing a custom v2 because I dislike the blue stripe and I'm at about the same price as the DTM wheel.

Any pictures would be amazing too!

Pretty sure it’s tbe same as the M performance one. It feels lovely. My dad has the M performance wheel in his M3 and the CS seems a less black shade of alcantara, his is jet black. Mine is more a dark grey. I’ll get a couple of pics.

That CS wheel

I like a lot of the M Performance options for different reasons—the CS (DTM) being a rare piece with the more subtle stripe at the top. If money was no object, I think that'd be my first choice, but they each have their charm.

Until I handled the V1 and V2 wheels in person, I was skeptical there would be a big discernible difference between the two, but there is. The V2 is certainly "edgier" with its shape and mix of leather and alcantara sections and it's an absolute pleasure to drive with. The V1 is more timeless I'd say and I really like the 100% alcantara look.

Admittedly, it's hard to ignore the appeal of the electronic wheel. When they first came out for the E90 it was by far the coolest thing I've seen to have all that information at your fingertips...and this tech has come a LONG way since then. It'd be a nice accessory to a track car and the occasional novelty on the street.

thought i read somewhere that the CS wheel wasn't compatible with the regular F80 or F82s for some reason. looks like i'm wrong? i would get the CS wheel in a heartbeat for my ride, love the subtle stripe at 12 o'clock

I actually tried very very hard to get the proper GTS wheel (same as CS but with subtle orange band) but it was a no go, BMW wanted not only a GTS vin which was doable, but also pictures of the GTS it was going in, and pictures of the current “damaged” wheel which needed replacing..
