Driver's seat foam coming out

Hi Everyone,

I received my used 2017 M3 ZCP, and it's very clear that someone removed the plastic trim on the back of the drivers seat. There is foam sticking out and the spacing and glue looks very rough vs the perfect looking passenger seat. Does anyone know why someone may have accessed this? The front seat emblems are the silver ones and are cracked. I'm also concerned another possibilty was maybe a side airbag came out if the airbag is incorporated into the seats. What do you all suggest I do, as the vehicle is still under warranty. Thank you for your help and suggestions.

Just take it to the dealer and get the seat emblems covered under warranty.

Depending where you bought the car from, they might cover the seat back cover too.

Hard to tell from the pics, but I can tell you there is no glue on the seat from the factory. The center portion looks misaligned. Perhaps someone tried to remove it and broke it.

Or probably had CF shells and took it off before selling.

^^^^ that's pretty likely. Guy had CF shells and did a rubbish job swapping them out at the end of his lease.

Well, if that was from a carbon shell then maybe do a thorough inspection for other shoddy mod work before going to dealer and getting your warranty voided.

The warranty will not get voided. They may decline your warranty claim for the seats considering there is no glue from factory and it is obvious someone was messing with the seats.
If you got it from a dealer, you can fight with them but if it was a private party, you better fix it yourself. I would contact the seller to see what they would do anyway.

If you end up on your own with the issue, perhaps put more glue? Or identify what is broken and get the parts if not cost prohibitive.

You won't see that back of the seat anyway. Enjoy the car.

No I meant there may be other mods that have been installed or removed improperly and to find those before the dealer does.

Yes this was a good suggestion. My bad I missed the point.

Was it bought CPO? If so, you might have a leg to stand on as this probably should have been caught during their inspection process. If not, you're battle might be harder. Agree though, the seat emblem should probably be covered regardless.
