What is the best M3?

These guys are jokers but got a good laugh out of it and thought I should share it.

For those that didn't want to watch. They were arguing between the e46 and the e90. F80 is clearly the winner for me with a caveat being that I would love an E30. But then again every current generation was the winner for me at the time it was out. E46 does have a special place in my heart though.

You are correct, good sir.

Although I doubt the E92 and F80/82 will be looked on in years to come as fondly as the E30, E36, E46.

Maybe not the E92, but as i've posted before I think there might be several design features on the F80/F82 that will most likely make them a future highly desirable last link to analog cars of yore; namely analog gages, a hand parking brake, and somewhat straightforward sport focused interior, and most likely the last generation of DCT, and possibly MT. BMW did a great job bringing forth better tech and a nice wide screen display perfectly placed on top of the dash, but still mostly separating the tech from the gage cluster. Head up display adds some of that tech flair without disrupting the clarity of a relatively tight analog gage design.

These things will be long gone in the G80.

I agree and disagree. I get your point about drivers holding on tightly to the analogue appearance of the interior, but I think it's one generation removed. If the F80/82 was a NA, the 'pure' driving argument would be stronger. However, with the turbos in the current series and muted sound, I see the F80/82 more of a transitional model rather than the last of the 'good old days.'

I clump the E36 and E46 in a family, the E92 by itself, and the F80/82 more aligned to the G series.

Only time will tell.

yea, F80 is nice because it's "newest" for now, that's the only reason. Everything about F80 will be forgotten so quickly once the G80 comes out.
G80 will have similar turbo engine but much more powerful, lighter chassis, better interior design + better i-drive, will sound better.
