Thinking about buying a slightly used 2018 M4, but break-in service was done late

in reviewing the maintenance records, the 1,200 break-in service was not performed until 5,500 miles.

Is this big deal? Not a big deal? Somewhere in the middle?

The car is being sold by a BMW but is not CPO'd.

Yes it's a big deal. If they didn't do it by at least 2000 it cannot be CPO'd. That should tell you everything you need to know about it.

Do some searching there has been numerous threads of people buying used asking this exact question.

Thanks for the feedback. I searched the forum using the following keywords:

1) 1,200 mile service
and
2) break in service

and didn't get any hits related to my question. Must be doing it wrong.

From the sounds of it, missing the 1,200 mile service by that much is a deal breaker, especially since I plan on keeping the car for at least 5 years.

Definitely a deal breaker. Need to search the used car threads that are non-CPO

The short version is even non CPO BMW cars come with a warranty if it is still in the time frame of the original warranty but this one won't(not fully).

Why void part of the warranty? The break in oil is intentionally designed to cause extra wear and running it that long has caused damage to the car.
