Maintenance program worth it

Hi,

New owner of CPO 50i - well not yet, still waiting for delivery of the car. It has CPO warranty until 3/2010 with 45k miles now. Dealer was trying to sell me a maintenance program that cost $1995 that extends maintenance until 3/2021. It has oil, filter as well as brake and spark plugs etc. I only plan to drive 5 to 7 k miles annually as this will be my "business" car.

CPO report shows brakes can run ~30K miles. By 3/21, I estimate to hit around 60K miles.

Do you guys thing this worths it? Is there a room to haggle around? I am thinking 1500 will push me over the edge. But I don't know the expected maintenance cost from now till 3/21 with ~60k miles is.

Thanks,

At $1995 I think you might break even. Big ticket item is brakes and rotors. I personally don't think it's worth it.

My dealer charged me $1195.00 to add 1 year on the CPO.

After the 6th oil change or about 60K it will need spark plugs
You can check in the vehicle diagnostics to see how long until it will need front and rear brakes.

From what I was told the break job alone could be more than what I paid for it so it was a no brainer for me. I will also need plugs, a couple oil changes, filters, windshield wipers and maybe even a battery by then.

Just called another local dealer about the extension of the maintenance program. I now have better understanding of how this works. On the contrary to the flat $1995 for 6 yrs extension, she was able to break it down like this -
1. $700 to reinstate the original, which covers 5 months till 3/2019.
2. From 3/2019 to 3/2020, she said it is actually free for CPO owner for maintenance.
3. To extend it to 3/2021, it costs $1145 and $2080 to 3/2022.

If we add 1145 and 700, it is close to the $1995. She said I can do it anytime during the free period. I guess the only variable is the brake. Otherwise it doesn't worth it.

Can anyone confirm the #2? is it true?

Or maybe I misunderstood it. I should first refresh the original and then I can get 6 and 7 yr extension?

Not worth it IMO. Getting maintenance done at an Indy is going to be cheaper.
