Winter tire/rims for 2017 M3 competition
i'm leaning towards picking ups 2017 M3 competition and it will need to be a daily driver in canadian winters and wanted to get some suggestions for winter tire/rim packages.
Is it better to go with run flats??? the competition comes with staggered 20". Is it better to go with same size 19", or stick with the staggered setup. I"m going to have my winters on from late September to probably early to mi-May, since we can have heavy snowfalls all year, so I'm thinking studded is probably not a good option. I've also never had a rear wheel drive before and for the past 11 years all my vehicles have been AWD, so that is a concern. |

I am running a square setup with size 18 255. These are Bridgestone and I've used them in Toronto winter. All good so far. If you have CCBs than you would have to go 19s. Don't go staggered because the 275 don't drive well in the snow.

Look at this group buy for winter wheels / tires, it's from a forum vendor here. Ends in a few days. It goes over recommended sizes and tires. You can go with 18s as long as you don't have carbon ceramic brakes.

At first I was leary of it for the front but it does clear the brakes. Very tight fit, you'll barely be able to put your pinky between the brake calipers and the drum of the wheel but it'll fit. |

Thanks everyone!!
Some other questions. Is worth getting the 3m protection on the front, back sides and at the joins to the carbon roof? Lastly, the dealership also recommended taking if the front lip/ diffuser in the winter for greater ground clearance. Anyone else doing that? |

Yes it is a competition model. However, I went with the black 19s vs the 20s .. personal preference. But that throws people off.

------------ OP, We typically recommend our EC-7 18x9" ET31 with 245/40-18 or 255/40-18 tires for cars with standard steel brakes, and 19x9.5" ET22 with 255/35-19 tires for cars with carbon ceramic brakes. Feel free to PM or call us directly if you want to dive into more detail on winter fitment for your car. -Matt

I went for the OEM ( BMW Recommended) tires. better resale, and it's what's recommended by bmw.
