Local dealership trashed my two month old vinyl wrap, what to do?
Recently had Matt at Euro MPire do my vehicle check 1 while he was upgrading my clutch, and he advised me the rear diff bushing was starting to crack. I took the car into the dealership to see if they would cover the part under warranty on Monday. they agreed to cover but had to order a part, washed my car and gave it back. it was rainy. it was cloudy and stormy all week until yesterday the sun came out and I finally got to see that the entire car is cover front to back top to bottom in tiny scratches. my entire wrap that i bought in late September is now already ruined, and I'm wondering what my course of action should be to hold bmw liable

You can try to (calmly) explain to them what happened and ask for reimbursement, but seems unlikely if not pointed out when picking up the car or for several days later. Sorry this happened.

I had the same thing happen to me. My brand new M4 with absolutely perfect paint and ceramic protection is completely covered in swirl marks. Good thing I noticed it right away and it was well documented that I had asked to not wash the car. They told me they'll fix it but still waiting on official reply. I don't want them to touch the car again, instead I'm hoping they'll pay for a proper paint correction at the shop I had the ceramic protection applied. It's infuriating and I legitimately can't wrap my head around how they thought it would be a good idea to use what seems like a fucking broom to wash a brand new 110k EUR car.

I always thought since dealerships washes brand new cars and they look pretty perfect it should be ok to wash my car now "used" car right. Dead wrong. I have a dash cam and I got to see first hand how different cars are washed when you are just coming in for service vs brand new cars about to get delivered to customers. Never again. Pretty much they have two guys with broom brushes that scrub the crap out of your wheels then use the same brush all over the body of the car. After seeing that happen with my previous car i'm going to plaster my interior with signs that says "Do NOT Wash!!"

Young guys with no work experience dirty "brooms" dirty soap buckets, just fooling around. I see this same scenario at Ford as well but at my Ford dealership they started giving coupons for touchless drive through wash across the street instead which is much better option. |

literally says "dont wash the car or you'll ruin the wrap" in my service profile, which I know the guy checked, because he was prepared for the upgraded and brand new clutch that I hadn't mentioned but was in my service profile

I always assume they will wash my car unless you specifically tell the service writer. Don't expect them to read any notes when you made the appointment.

I just think it's crazy, I had my e92 for 140 thousand miles, took it to the dealership probably 30 times, with the same wrap on it, and they never hurt it

Obviously the best practice is to reiterate and post signs in the car, etc., but I disagree with the implication in some of these responses that it’s the OP’s fault for not doing all these things. A shitty thing happened to him and it is 100% the shitty dealer’s fault! Especially considering the profile notes. It’s disgusting that car dealers operate this way. This is why people hate car dealers. They really do suck.
Sorry OP.

To avoid this, I educated my service adviser from day 1 and only bring in my car when he's working. I can only imagine how dirty the washing mitt is from cleaning all the cars whose owners NEVER wash their cars. Cringe.

Anyway, I have a light flywheel and heavy duty clutch on my 911 and it took a while to get used to. There's definitely going to always be chatter but you'll get used to the clutch take up. I know the feeling of not wanting to drive the car as much, but you'll get over it and have fun again. I would NOT make any rash moves with your car. You're going to take a bath financially if you trade it now. Just wait for the dealer to get back to you and try not to care about what people think in the meantime. It's still your same car just has some marks that are probably more glaring in your eyes than anyone else's. |

The SA at my dealer has it on my account under Comments..... "NO WASH". lol! And I am not kidding. He always puts the big "No Wash" sign on top of the dash. My local dealer has a drive through car wash on site and that's why I avoid the wash at all cost
