513m guys, need some tire advice

So it's no secret that the 513m tire selection isn't all that great. The best I could find without going full track tire are PSSs, 265-40-18 in front and 295-35-18 in rear. Can anybody chime in if this helps at all with straight line grip? Not too thrilled with stock PSS setup. I'm riding on Macht Schnell lowering springs, not sure if that will cause rubbing in the rear. If anyone has experience with a similar setup, please let me know your thoughts.

I run 285/40 on my rear 513m - continental extreme contact sport tires. I personally wouldn't run 295/35 on my car but I believe it technically fits.

Thanks for the feedback! In your opinion, did you notice a difference/reduction in the traction control intervention from going wider? My biggest issues are with what feels like about 80% cut in power when the torque spike hits around 3000 rpm, and low speed turns tend to cut power almost completely anytime I’m anywhere past what seems like 1/3 throttle in efficient mode. My previous s4 had more rotation on the slow turns, but maybe that’s just how the tc is programmed to intervene.

Yes I did notice a reduction but then again I replaced the worn 275/40 tires with brand new 285/40 tires so it's hard to say how much was from the larger contact patch vs a new compared to worn tire. Regardless I am very happy with the performance and look of the tires.

if I had 18" wheels I would run drag radials for street but your local weather conditions might not agree.

From what I've read the "best" set-up for the 513 wheels are 265/35/18 and 285/35/18. This what I plan on running when my stock tires are toast. I'm lowered on Dinan HAS so I'm hoping I won't rub🤞🏽.

Where did you read that? There aren't too many of us running the oem 18s. Personally I wouldn't go down to a 35 aspect ratio as I prefer the meatier tire look.

Yeah, I definitely would want a 40 sidewall too. My car is dropped as it is. I wouldn't want to sit even lower. The ride is super comfortable too, not sure how different a 35 would be.

It's really a shame more owners don't choose the 18s. In my opinion it's the best looking wheel they offer from the factory, and happened to be no charge! Best spoke design and how the front brakes completely fill the space looks awesome. I also dig the meaty tire look. The first thing I thought when the competitions came out with those 20s was that we were reverting to the DUB days from years ago. Surprised I don't see people putting 20'' badges next to the side vents.

Anyways, I think I'm going to try the contis come spring. If that doesn't work, I'll probably splurge on the gold 763m 19s and try something different.

I should probably clarify my post. Due to my current suspension set up, a 35 aspect ratio would be the only way I could get away with going wider without having any clearance issues.

I'm all for the meaty look, but a 40 aspect ratio would def rub for me.

You're right that not many of us are running 513s. I personally love them but was concerned about going wider and the issues that come with that. How are you liking the 285/40 from Conti compared to the MPSS? I feel like MPSS is the golden standard for the daily driver in regards to balance and driveability in all weather types. I'd love to go wider but don't want to compromise ride quality.

The contis are very similar to the mpss and make for an excellent daily driver tire. Plus, they have a much better tread wear rating and are cheaper than the mpss. They are fantastic in the wet and have tons of grip in dry weather.

No need to worry about moving up to a 285/40 in the rear as that size is actually made for a 10" wheel which the rear 513m is so it's a perfect fit. Plus, the increased traction and meatier look make it a no brainer for me.

On 513m wheels is it fine to run 265/40/18 fronts and 285/40/18 rears all stock no spacers ?
