What's up with the e-brake use?

Was he just trying to be rude to the german engineers or he was trying not to smack his passengers' heads onto the windows by shifting balance?

I've gone wide countless times smoothly and in a controllable manner and have never used the e-brake. That's not to say the video's not impressive, just surprising for BMW.

e-brake is used when he initiated the drifts. you have to remember, hes sliding the car from entry to exit, not just mashing the gas after the apex of the turn and just coutersteering.
