Do you keep your M3/M4 garaged?
Wanted to see if you guys garage your M's or drive them regularly and keep them outside. Especially curious about the guys that live in colder climates w harsh winters and blazing sun.
For those that kept them outside, did you see any deterioration of clear coat, leather, etc after several years? |

If you live in a harsh winter area, then I THINK you should be maintaining your paint a little more frequently. I would definitely make sure that the car is clay barred at least once a year with clear coat stripped and a new one applied. I'd say this is the least you should do any way no matter where you live, I know some people will do this process 2x a year.
The only real deterioration you should see on the leather will just be your normal wear and tear from daily use. I don't think the sun is going to have any noticeable effect on leather on a young car, it may dry it out a little more? in which case I would just apply leather conditioner. |

Used to fuss about it, I would never ever park outside the garage. Got married, have a little one, cars outside 95% of the time, never think twice. Maturity.....

Yes, my luck, a tree will fall on it if it's left outside.

At this stage in my life, I don't know if I would have put a lot of money into a car if I couldn't have it garaged year around.

Garaged for the Winter. Garaged when I have it in Manhattan. Outside during the warmer months when I have it at my place in Connecticut.

Garaged when home and at most clients. Occasionally needs to stay outside when visiting certain clients or traveling.

OP your poll and your post makes no sense.
"Wanted to see if you guys garage your M's or drive them regularly and keep them outside" Driving a car regularly has nothing to do with whether I garage it or not I drive it regularly and when I return home I park it in the garage Most people would do that if they own a home with a garage. Doh! It comes down to who has a garage or not, wouldn't you say?

My M4 and my wife's M3 are garaged. Hers is even garaged at her office (I'm retired). Our Z4 M Roadster sits in the driveway, with a cover on it when it's not raining, which is most of the time. Last year I had the paint corrected and CeramicPro coating applied, like the M4 and M3, and it stills look fantastic.
P.S. Harsh winters and blazing sun are kind of mutually exclusive. In San Diego we get blazing sun but winter just means it rains every now and then. I used to live in Michigan which had harsh winters, but I would hardly say it had blazing sun.

Mine sleeps in the garage but I use it as often as I want. I have a truck for daily duties but will also daily the M3 when I get bored with the truck.

Garaged except for when driving it cross country. That doesn't mean I keep it clean though. Right now its extra filthy and covered it cat paw prints.

I keep my F82 with 1300km parked outside so I can keep my winter beater 2006 CRV with 230000km nice and cozy in the garage.
Wait. Other way round. |

garaged for sure, and not a DD. early in my career i didn't have that luxury, but i wasn't buying new BMWs either. first E30 was pretty sketchy tbh. bottom line: if i couldn't garage the M4 i would have leased it and done ceramic.
regarding out-door car covers, i'm not a believer. used a Noah cover on a Z3 i had for a few years. imo that thing did more damage than it prevented. |
