ESS E-Flash--Help Returning to Stock
I have had an ESS tune installed for a while. I want to give BM3 a try. Before installing the BM3 tune, I thought it would be best to flash the ECU back to stock.
When I tried to do this using the ESS E-Flash software, I ran into a question: I thought the right method was to flash the original file back to the ECU. But when I select “program ECU memory” it only allows me to choose .mod files, so I can’t select the original file. Is the correct procedure to click on “recover ECU memory?” I don’t see anything in the instructions about this button, or flashing back to stock generally. I’m super paranoid about doing something wrong, so I just closed the E-Flash software and unplugged the car. Also, is it advisable to drive the car 50 miles after flashing back to stock so that the sensors have acclimated back to the stock tune before installing BM3? Thanks.

For future reference, ESS got back to me quickly (on a Saturday) by email. Apparently they need to create a stock .mod file for you.
