i had no problems with the OEM 18's and Contis. just keep an eye on your tires through the course of the day and monitor your tire pressures too.

Garage List
I’ve seen them on track. If you don’t have camber plates expect outside shoulder wear in a hurry. But first time on track, run what you brung and go from there.

I've taken mine to the track a handful of times on the 666's and MPS4's. Its not ideal, but I only track about 4 times a year. It was not worth buying a set of track wheels and tires.

The tires do melt pretty quick and the outsides will definitely show some melted rubber marks.

LRP is my local track.

666m (or any 20" wheel for that matter) is not an ideal track tire size for the F8x. Just don't overdrive the car and the sidewalls will hold up. (These MPS4 are vastly better than the MPSS) Also ensure to keep hot PSI of around 35-37, any more and the car will get squirly, anything less you'll be rolling over on your sidewalls.

You'll find after your first run that the front left will be at a higher PSI than the other three as it takes most of the load going into turn one. Start all four at 28-30 PSI cold then adjust accordingly after the first run

Have fun. It's a short track, but super quick.

It's baffling to me that the 666m wheels are not great for track use on the "COMPETITION" M3. My thinking would be that BMW tweaked elements of this car to better suit the track experience...but NOPE!

Taking my F80 Comp to the track for the first time this weekend, not excited about tire wear but as someone said before, not worth it to buy a dedicated set for me since I don't plan on keeping it beyond the end of 2020 and tracking maybe a total of 5-6 days/year.

They're fine on track. I've ran mine a handful of times without issue. Hot pressures around 40PSI +-2. I just don't like taking nice wheels onto the track with OE tires.

Completely fine. I'm using camber plates and PSC2.

Stop whining. BMW and all the rest of the manufacturers are using stupid-ass giant wheels for all their performance cars.

Anyway, your biggest issue is your lack of camber plates and proper tires. Put proper tires and camber plates on the car and you can track all day with your 20"s

Not sure if they would rub or not but I believe Hoosiers are available in the OE size on tirerack now

Agree with above - I did 20+ HPDEs on 666M with PS4S. I chewed up the corners more than anything else but they did pretty well. The weakest link was probably me more than the tires. Definitely me more than the tires or the car...

Just finished a track weekend at MSR Houston with Chin on my 666m wheels. I got a new set of rears just 1 week prior and those held up very well.

However, I did start the first day with front tire treads of 6-7/32 and my front left tire was chunking significantly towards the end of the day to the point where I saw the metal wiring...THANKFULLY 1 discount tire in all of Houston had the fronts in stock so I rushed over to get those. New fronts did well on day 2, however I don't see them lasting even 2-3 track days without camber plates.

I was seriously considering buying a set of APEX wheels and tires, but if some of you guys are saying that with camber plates the 666m are just fine then I might just go that route.

No we are not saying they'll be fine even with camber plates. The OE PS4/PSS tires can't deal with the extended periods of heat that tires are subjected to on a race track. IF you drive them at 6-7/10ths they'll be OK (no chunking) but will still wear faster than say a RE-11 or RS4 extreme tire category tires. If you're going to invest in camber plates you might as well go with more track-friendly tires too.
