BMW x6 2015 xline front/rear brakepads and rotors average cost ?

Hi guys, as the title of the tread says, what is the average cost you guys paid for front and rear brakepads and rotors replacement on x6 ?
Dealership quoted me $1,750.00 for all 4 pads and rotors including labor and materials, and i don't have the details if these pads are ceramic or semi-metalic

go with an aftermarket brake and rotor kit and have an indy shop install it. after market kit is around $400 for all 4 corners and installation ranges from 150 to 300

42k miles, i'm not sure if i need them, i asked them to quote brakepads since car is telling me on idrive that they are 3100 miles away from replacement
they quoted everything together, is that price very unreasonable ? what would it be if i bought parts on my own and bring it to local mechanic to install them? (but i still want to get good parts, not the cheapest ones)
thanks

Haven't needed to replace my brakes yet but I can promise you I won't be taking it to the dealership. I've got a very good indy mechanic that I've used for years. I didn't trust many with my E46 M3, but he did a terrific job.

42K is too early for rotors. You should be able to request pads only. As for the quote your dealer provided, I think that is outrageously high, even with rotors. Below is part quote for factory BMW replacement parts.

Knowing that the total cost in parts is under $700, the rest of $1.7K quote the dealer gave you is labor and markup.

I'd go with an indy or insist they do pads only.

From get bmw parts website:

Front Rotors: $106/each
Front Pads: $140 set
Wear Sensor: $22 (optional)

Rear Rotors $105/each
Rear Pads: $82 set
Wear Sensor: $22 (optional)

Shipping FREE
TAX: ZERO

Total: $688

Thanks for this, this seems very reasonable and better way to go, only other question is are these parts just as good as the ones that dealership would provide ? Are they OEM or aftermarket ?

Thanks for the links. Will save them for later

The only reason i wanted to change brakes is because my idrive was telling me for past 8 months(and 12.000 miles) that my front and rear brakes need service in 3100 miles, i looked this up and everybody seemed to have similar info even though they brakes were nowhere near the need of changing...
I went this past Saturday to mount new tires, and asked them to check my brakes to see how much life they had, they stated that rear ones have 10mm and front ones have 7mm, they said i'm good at least another year+ on normal driving/braking
So i will probably delay this for another year and keep monitoring it, because where i live and drive, most of driving is on cruise control and there is no much braking
