I've found PDC in my E92 a bit lazy. Seems like there is a bit of lag on occasions. Therefore I can't trust the system.
In my E46 I found it pretty good, and pretty responsive. |

My first car with PDC and no matter what they say, I will still double check it. I will just use it to judge my distance from any obstacle behind it.

I will say this..
PDC is like a radar detector. It is an aid, or a tool when human error comes into play. However it most certainly doesn't provide any immunity. Just like with a radar detector, you still have to look mate. Sucks that your car got damaged though. I'd feel like shit afterwards too.

Ya it was totally my fault. I was doing a 3 point turn. The pdc was yellow I went up about a foot and a half then reversed again the pdc hestitated and never came back on. I hit a cargo van with a step that sticks out it didn't do and damage to the step of course. But it scratched my bumber and left a 6 inch long indent. The pdc messed up but it was me rushing and being an idioit. Just came back from the shop they said about 600 bucks

initial prediction...
damn, did i call that or what? nabil wasn't going to recognize me so i had to do it myself. anyway, bummer man. i've been there before. it'll get fixed and that'll be it. at least it didn't mess up the other car. it sucks worse to pay to fix somebody else's stuff. |

Dude, I understand that you're upset about what happened, but the thread title is not cool for those of us at work. I'm not some goody-two-shoes or anything, but I don't need f-bombs posted up in bold on my screen.[/soapbox]
Good luck with the repairs, and hope your car gets fixed up as good as new. If it's a quality shop, you should get a good match. I had the same thing happen when I was rear-ended, and I couldn't tell afterward. |

true, very bad habit. you should be looking and using judgement and just relying on pdc as you get really close to something. haven't looked at the bmw manual, but every other car I've seen with PDC or a camera clearly says in the manual that it's no replacement for turning and looking (or for common sense apparently - no offense). hopefully the damage isn't too bad.
