H&R springs doubt

Does the X5 with H&R springs get very uncomfortable? I find the X5 too wobbly and the passengers are prone to seasickness. I have an i3s and I love the car in terms of comfort. Has anyone tested the X5 with H&R springs and the i3 with stock suspension that can comment/compare the two? Thanks

I recently installed H&R Springs to an X5 (standard suspension - Springs in all 4 corners) and it is not uncomfortable at all, my kids 2 years and 8 months ride in the car and my wife with no complains. I also found it to be Wobbly with the stock suspensions.

One ting to note is that the streets where I live are very good.

Hopes this help

Seems like you'll find mixed reviews on the H&R's and standard suspension, when Bilstein releases the B6 again I plan on pairing the two together. I'll also be on non RFT's by then as well. I know its not the same car but when I put the B6's on my Nissan Armada it was a night and day difference compared to stock which felt to soft and had mad bump steer. Replacing the stocks with the B6 got rid of bump steer and made it feel more solid and comfortable.

i've driven in both. the VTF depends on how low are your settings. but if they are set the same, they feel the same. both are bouncier on uneven roads then stock but are awesome on perfect roads

Appreciate the insight. Do you have any experience with Eibach's? I know the drop is subtle but would like a comparison on the H&R (non VTF) and the Eibach's in terms of ride quality.

Did you search brother. Like seriously a ton of info on this exact thing.

HR are notoriously bouncy and not liked by most but achieved the lowest drop.

Eibachs are much closer to oem with a smaller drop. I run them and find them great.

Yeah I've read that exact same thing was just hoping he had personal experience with both. As we know ride quality is subjective. Definitely don't want bouncy though.

Eibach if you're in a budget. KW if you can afford it.

if you want height adjustability go with the VTF. personally i believe the ride feel is all subjective based on your tolerance

Agree with this as well although I have heard the VTF is just as rough as standard HR. But you do get to customize your drop.

Soon I'd like to swap my air bags for rear springs. Too unreliable IMO and such a pain to get a even layout.

I had Eibach before switching to H&R and they both feel the same. The drop is more important to me so I stayed with H&R. You also need to consider the partnership H&R has had with BMW... yes it's mostly on the racing side but that has to count for something.

Let me see if I can help. My wife drove the car a few times last week. No complains. I am running 22's. But streets by my area are pretty good.

What whee size are you going to run?

Good to know as I'm on 22's as well and streets in my area aren't bad. Does the OEM shocks bottom out with the H&R springs with potholes or large deviations?

I bet most people complaining about harshness of H&R, ride on RF tires.

I opted to buy non RF tires for my 20" wheels, based on reading lots of others posts, and my own experience with RF and non RF on my 3 series.
Going from 19" RF to 20" non RF made a noticeable improvement when driving over speed bumps etc.

Before switching to non RF, I was considering going back to stock springs or ordering a set of KW V3, now I'm thinking I'm going to stay with the H&R VTF's, maybe just get the Bilstein B6 shocks down the line...
