Gaffer tape for car numbers?

Finally got my M3 on the Track, High Plains Raceway. My car is ceramic coated and when I went to put my car numbers on, painters tape would not stick. I ended up putting them on the window.

I now have some magnetic numbers, and i know some will place tape on the leading edge (one guy lost one during the event) but sure the painters tape will not work. Has anybody tried gaffer tape?

I always put my numbers in the windows, regardless if they are decals, masking-tape or gaffer tape, for the simple reason that it is easier and less risky to clean the glue deposits than on paint.

I’d only use painter tape on the paint. Not gaffer

Painter tape did not stick(at least the frog tape), and knew duct tape was out of the question, so was thinking Gaffer tape since not supposed leave a residue.

3M Painters tape (blue tape) sticks on my paint and I have Ceramic Pro. Maybe it will stick well enough for numbers.

I've had bad luck trying to tape on magnetic numbers and that was before I got the Ceramic Pro. My magnetic number panel went flying at Big Willow. But that was in the section with lots of speed!

Once you get a fingernail under a corner, they come off easily and stick back onto the sheet just fine.
