Quick help needed
As some of you might know, my dealer is getting me a new car because of the problems I was having with a few hour old new car.
They gave me a few choice's to think about today, and would like your input. The dealer can get me a coupe in graphite, on a car that was just like mine,or a convertable, space grey, that was just like mine. both would be an 08 with the DCT. OR I can order an 09 anyway I want, but would have to wait until OCT before I would get the car. NEW I DRIVE ?, NO SOFTWARE ISSUES ? IS IT WORTH THE WAIT ? I would like to wait, but the dealer want's the loaner car back on Monday. They will let me keep the loaner if I want one of the 08's as they would be here soon. I had the vert, but would not mind changing to the coupe if need be! any idea's need them ASAP Thanks Scott |

order 09 if u dont have to have the car now. get the new stuff even if it's buggy. it'll be fixed. there's always software issues, not like current iDrive is the most robust reliable system.
*hint* sparkling looks like eggplant |

I'm not sure what color combination your original car had, but take a look at the two '08 models that your dealer is offering you. You may be able to rule them out strictly on appearance.
Also, do you have another vehicle that you can use in the meantime if you wait for the '09? If not, a rental for that entire time period will run you about $2k at a minimum. That alone would probably push me toward an '08. Also, I'm not sure how your deal was structured, but if you have to finance or lease the '09 model all over again in October, the rates almost certainly won't be as favorable. Any software update released in September will be made available for your '08 as well, so that shouldn't really be a reason to go with one model year or another. Also, if you want Sparkling Graphite, it will not be available on '09 models. From what I can tell, the only two advantages of getting an '09 are (1) the updated iDrive; and (2) less depreciation. Only you can answer the question of whether these benefits are worth the costs of waiting. |

go for 09. too close now not too. yeah, you might pay more, but do it. don't count on all the software problems being fixed. the new i-drive will probably have plenty of bugs. but at this point i'd go 09 for sure.

If you're ok with the wait get an 09 car. I know I just could not wait once I saw the new M last November, which is why I bought the display car BMW India had!

(2) No, I would have to rent a car for almost 90 days (3) Cash is king, (no difference) (4)agree (5) Anybody have a Sparkling Graphite that can tell me what it looks like? Agree and Agree. The funny thing is, By the time I would get my new Convertible in Oct, here in MN, It would almost be WINTER. , Hence the coupe |

Sparkling Graphite is a very polarizing color. People who see it either really like it or hate it. I was in the former camp and wanted to spec my '09 order in that color, but it's no longer available. I've attempted to describe it in previous posts (example), but you really need to see it in person (in different lighting situations), to evaluate it. It looks very little in person like it does in pictures. I liked it better than the Space Gray because it had a lot more depth and complexity to it. By comparison, the Space Gray felt a little flat. Your original choice was the 'vert, so that seems to be what you really want and you may end up regretting that you "settled" for the coupe. Yeah, it's almost winter now, but it'll be spring/summer again before you know it and you'll probably wish you had the 'vert then. |

Sears?
If I stayed around M/SP I would have got mine there. I like those folks much more than Motorwerks. Is an October delivery going to sit in the garage until May? If I were you I'd grab an '08 now so you can enjoy it until October when you'll have to put on winter tires. If you intend to put winters on and drive it, you might want to wait. I'm in a similar situation now with an 09 configured exactly how I want it coming in October or pick up an 08 that is close to what I want. It'd be nice to enjoy the new car for what's left of the summer.
