Problem w. my Window Tint

I noticed that the car's windows have some small lines running through them. Looks like someone took a razor and left a small line. difficult to see at certain angles, but basically something inside the window is leaving a mark on the tint.

I took it back to the place that did the tint and they said that they've never had this issue with a 3 series, but that they see it a lot with some merc's. solution is to put some sort of coating on the window mechanism.

Wondering if any one else has had this issue or thinks this is bs.

The place that did the tint was recommended by a friend who's taken several cars there without any problems. In any case, the they said they would redo the tint for free.

I believe the rollers need to be lined with felt as to not scratch the tint.

Get them to use moleskin or felt this time around. I didn't think this was necessary on this car, but in your case, it clearly is.

You got me on that. I've never seen or heard of anything like that.

What does tint scratching have to do with radio reception?

Hmmm... sounds a little like you may have used the windows before the tint had time to set.

yea my tint place told me that some bmws window lining scratches the window. Fortunately I havent had that problem with my tints on the m3, but I think the solution is to line it with felt

Ok, gotcha. In many cars, the AM radio antenna is embedded in the rear glass. Metallic tints interfere with the antenna causing bad reception. Also, metallic tints are highly reflective and can also interfere with other signals emitted/received from inside the car.

The sticker they put on the car said wait 48 hours. I waited more like 60 before touching the windows. also, at first, I didn't notice it on all the windows and after about a week it started to show on the back windows as well.

Strange that it would be showing up on the rear the window...obviously not a slow to cure problem. I would just show them and have them fix it or redo it.
