Very nit-picky observation on folding side mirrors: anyone else?

Noticed that when I hit the button to fold the side mirrors, the driver's side folds faster than the passenger's side mirror, and its respective motor also makes a different noise. They start folding or unfolding at the same time, but the driver's side finishes the process faster, completely out of sync with the passenger's side. Just an observation because I'm bored, that's all.

Anybody else?

Obviously, this is no cause for concern and I won't even bring it up to the dealer during the next service (I'm not THAT anal), but just wanted to see if this is the same for everyone's car or is it just a random manufacturing variance or whatever.

I thought I noticed that when I was folding/unfolding them. Don't see why they shouldn't be identical.

I also noticed that when I am cruising along some people will turn their head to have a look at my car and some will just mind their own business. The people who will take a look will turn their head at different speed. :-) Sorry but I couldn't help it. I am also bored.

The difference in speed of the two mirrors happens in my 335i. Glad to see I'm not the only person to notice that.

This has been brought up before. It's not a deal stopper but I think that's pretty cheesy for a $70K car.

This is nothing compared to the "APPEAP" found on some, including mine haha. That must be the German translation.

I get this...except the passenger's side mirror folds/unfolds faster than the driver's side. Checked it on an '08 328i E90 and it's the same thing.

No two electronic motors will EVER move at the same rate. As long as each mirror has it's own motor they'll move at different speeds.

mine fold completely out of order...once the first one is folded, it takes around 8 seconds for the second to fold...but of course I unfortunately have to fold them manually... so I guess your little sync issue is nothing to worry about

I wish I could complain but I dont have folding mirrors... I bought my car used (10 months old) and the asshole who ordered it did so with every extra option apart from the folding mirrors.... What a moron!

Tell that to Mercedes Benz. Both my parents, sisters, and brother in laws drive Benz's (I've always been the black sheep) and their mirrors move in sync

How do you KNOW? You can't watch both at the same time. I guarantee you they move at different speeds. Look at your power windows. Or power antennas.

Its not an //M thing, its a e9x thing, the 335is do it as well, and I assume the same for entire e9x line-up.

I just call it a little endearing "quirk" of the cars

Cheers,
