Spoiled

When my GC was in the shop I had a loaner car that did not have easy access entry. I can’t tell you how many times I just grabbed the door handle and expected to get in. It was a huge hassle to have to remove the key fob from my pocket, find the right button, push it, and then replace the key fob. Then do it all over again when you get out of the car. I think the easy access feature might be one of my favorite things about the car.

I agree, I’ve come a long way since I was putting around in my 2002. No easy access on these.

Yes, it's pretty easy to get spoiled with all of the technology and conveniences of modern cars... especially luxury cars.

LOL. I am the opposite. My 650 is just a weekend toy, so I am more used to my company vehicle. Whenever I drive the 650 i find myself reaching for the key to turn it off, or the emergency brake release.

Wow! Look at that! I always liked those cars. A friend of mine had one in a strange light metallic purple. Was really fun to drive around in. I seem to remember that not only did he have to get the key out of his pocket, he had to stick it in the door lock, turn it, then do it all over again in the ignition! Lol! I really appreciate the easy access thing now.

Garage List
2022 BMW IX  [0.00]
I just dropped the X5 off for a service and took a chance asking for a loaner (usually they are booked out well in advance) and to my surprise, they had one...an E46 318i Auto. The last time I had a BMW with the old diamond key was when I owned the 645ci.

Is it just me...I still can't operate the buttons on the new 4 button remotes without looking at it. The old diamond shaped and even older 3 button rubber head remote (with metal keyblade) helped orient the key...and made it easy to tell which was the top/bottom of the key. So pressing the unlock button or the tailgate/trunk button wasn't confusing.

Now with the 4 button remote...if I don't use comfort access and want to press the unlock button on the remote (to activate the welcome lights in dark parking lots etc)...I end up opening the trunk if I don't look directly at the remote. I guess I haven't gotten used to the shape of the key since I don't usually hold it due to CA (comfort access).

Yeah, I know...this is a 1st world problem.
