Those were good looking wheels! I remember I flipped the air filter cover upside down so that I could hear the intake roar when I hit the gas. Lol!

First time ever driving - W123 300SD MB. Had no idea how powerful the brakes would be. Sent mom and dad right out of their seats at 5mph.

First time ever with a stick. Ford Explorer. Just stop and gos in the local Victory supermarket.

First time on the road with a stick. Driving my brothers '91 Mercury Capri from Cambridge (Boston) to the suburbs. That was hell.

My first car, and the car I really learned to "drive" on without being a menace to society. '71 Porsche 914 w/ a '1.8l 4 cyl. from a '74. Paid ~$1200 for a chassis with shady repairs from a front hit and a blown motor. $400 for a chassis with nothing but a motor. Voila~ cheap, unsafe highschool car. It was awesome. Nobody in HS cared, with the exception of the kid with a 356B that was even more trashed than mine. Luckily for him he got his at the perfect time and has been able to slowly restore it since we graduated in '99.

I "learned" in whatever boring American sedan our high school driver's ed course had. But I took my test in my parents' light green 1971 Plymouth station wagon. I remember that shortly after I passed my test I took my brother to his girlfriend's house, and on the way home I turned around to look around inside the car to appreciate that for the first time in my life I was in a moving car alone.
