Highest speed?

After waking up at 4am I took a trip north, destination unknown yesterday and ended up in Morro Bay. If, hypothetically, I would have floored it and just held it there until the road d dictated that I slow down, I might, had I actually done that, have reached 144 mph.

Has anyone else hypothetically tested the upper limits of their cars? And, btw, does anyone know the factory de-restricted top speed?

6 series is limited to 160 mph. If you remove limiter, you can go over 175 mph (650i)

In the US I think it's 155 except the Alpina. Which is interesting since the stock Goodyear run flats are not rated for 155. They are V rated, which is 149.

Hahah good one ! I like that.

The problem with flat out runs in Australia is threefold.....you would run out of good road north of 250 klms p/hr very very quickly.... the average motorway driver here is so inconsistent and inconsiderate the whole ‘keep left unless over taking rule’ is only marginally practiced at best.....We are policed and nannied so heavily here that if you were caught doing 1/2 that speed let alone 250 ....it would be serious fines. At 250 that would see you held at Lizzes pleasure....
On a stretch of good straight and ‘cop checked’ country road I had my 650 at 240 for a bit.... was perfect 👌

You need to have the "840" option, which came in M Sport, to have the limit raised to 155mph. I believe it would otherwise be around 130mph. I expect the Alpina is an exception here.

Flashed to BM3 stage 2, catless dps, straight through exhaust, and methanol injection a 650i can do 200mph. Vlimiter of course has to be tuned off with BM3. These cars move when you open them up, trust me....

Here ya kidder. Being in Sydney I never get a chance to use my car properly. But I do do semi regular trips up to the Hunter Valley and there are places that it can be allowed to open up. Scares the shit out of the missus though😮

I also noticed the superb aerodynamics. Felt the downforce too.
