First Brake Job
so i'm planning on swapping out the rotors and pads on my 2013 650 gran coupe next week and was wondering if anyone has any tips, a faq, anything to help with the job.
any info would be appreciated. thanks! |

Try https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/ for guidance. There are YouTube videos and it is not difficult. Just don't let the calipers hang from the brake lines. If in doubt, take pictures before you remove something so you have a reference.

You are also going to need a 9mm brake caliper hex socket. PITA since hardly anyone has one of those in their tool chests.

It's possible to do without taking the caliper off, I did mine taking the carrier off as that needs to come off to get the new disc on. It made the job slightly trickier but not impossible.
Top tip, according to newtis the bolts for the caliper carrier are single use only. You'll need a set for both sides. The other thing I found getting a breaker bar in and torque wrench, was that it is easier to turn the wheels so the caliper is pointing out the wheel well, it gives a bit more room. Just be careful jacking up and you'll be fine. Longest but if the job for me was cleaning everything up, found a ton of dirt and gravel in suspension mounts and electrical boxes. |
