Adaptive Cruise retrofit for a X5 with SA217, possible?
I have a 2014/3 X5 35i which has SA217. Recently, I am considering to retrofit SA5DF to this car. But it seems there is only 1 can be equipped, either SA217 or SA5DF. I would rather prefer to have 5DF than SA217, however, to remove the SA217 off the car for 5DF seems a stuipd idea as there are too many parts that are different than the car without SA217 like Front axle support, tension strut, Rubber Mounting...and steering. I am wondering why both SA217 and 5DF are not possible to be equipped in a F15?

As far as I recall you can have Active Steering and Adaptive Cruise Control. You can't have Trafic Jam Assistant with Active Steering.
As my X5 has typical electric steering I have added both ACC and TJA. To be honest in my usage TJA is fully useless. So unless you spend hours in traffic jams you will not loose much. I remember that when I was searching for new ICM there were separate numbers for ICM with ACC and for ICM with ACC+AS. PS: I was thinking of opposite to what you've said - I was thinking to add AS, as I don't like handling on uneven asphalt county roads. It is handling too nervous for me. I had to change 20" RFT to 19“ non-RFT to get somewhat acceptable handling. Unfortunately for sure it worsened grip on fast cornering. As could be a solution with no major drawbacks. |
