Two minor issues - need your advice

I have noticed two small issues that have come up over the last month:

1. in cold weather, there is a creaking sound from the front suspension every time I drive slowly over speed bumps.

2. Occasionally, I feel something moving (almost a knocking type feeling) under the driver's seat, mostly when I am taking sharp turns. I checked under the seat, and there is nothing there.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

There are threads - at least one long one and probably several - about the mysterious moving driver's seat. It requires replacing some parts. Do a search or two. Can't recall key terms, but more about moving than noise I think. Not sure on your suspension creak. On many cars I'd first suspect sway bar bushings, but I have not looked how they work on this car.

Ditto Opie...a driver's seat that seems to move when making turns or in a deep curve has been discussed in the past. Here's a link to a 5 page or more thread started back in 2012...read (at least) the 1st page or two to see if this is the same issue you're having. Then you can skip to the latter pages to see what the best solutions where: https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=662882

Just dropped my car off today for the seat popping issue. Really hoping they’ll cover it under CPO. I have a 440i coupe as a loaner, and the lower quality of the interior materials compared to my 650 GC is shocking!

Hi,

for #1 just put some silicone spray to the inner (frame side) of the shown control arm.

The video is from my car.

This is a known problem. The fix is BMW approved (not a joke) With this knowledge a change of the arm is not mandantory needed.

Munich, did the spray work? Did you spray it where the arm connected to the frame? Did you mention it to BMW and they refused to do the work?

Board, is it the same underseat 'knocking' type feeling that you are having?

Thanks for the info and links Opie and Q.

Yes it did. Spray it where the arm is connected to the frame. Use a lot of. I never asked them to do it. But here in Germany BMW has this fix in the computer. It is enough to do this 1-2 times a year. The noise it is the rubber what is rubbing against the frame -->Slip stick effect.

Also the rubber part of the output shaft (wheel side) can make noises when when wet / cold. -->Here is also silcone spray usable.

!!! Do not inhale silicone spray it will never comes out of your lungs!!!!
