Charge pipe blew off

Well, the stock charge pipe blew off on my 2012 135i N55 with 50k miles. At least I'm not driving much these days with the Coronavirus going around.

I'll look on YouTube later for a DIY to replace this. From the photo, am I missing any pieces like clamps, etc that blew off?

You need a new charge pipe and C clip.

The flange at the TB connection is broken. Classic N54/55 charge pipe failure.

If you were a N54 I have a spare. But this is a great opportunity to upgrade to an ER pipe and BOV for better pressure control.

Classic indeed.
Happened to my oem pipe 2 weeks ago.
No problem since I had the upgrade part sitting at home.
Just pop a new one in and you're good to go.

Btw I don't think you need a new C Clip.
Looks like your old one is still there, and you can re-use it on your replacement charge pipe.

Mine failed in the same place a few years ago—classic indeed. It's a good thing to avoid driving, as unmetered, unfiltered air gets into the engine with a broken charge pipe.

Ok I got the blown one off. The O-ring was jammed up in the throttle butterfly C-clip looks fine so I'll reuse that. I ordered an ARM Motorsports charge pipe. I have another car so I won't drive this BMW until it's fixed.

I got the ARM Motorsports charge pipe on. Thanks for offering your spares guys, but I think everyone should be putting on metal charge pipes preemptively.

Have a question in the 2nd pic which is of the pipe coming up from the intercooler. Is the new hose supposed to slide over the flange of the original hose so that the clamp is on the other side of the flange?

Don't forget to replace the o-ring on the throttle body. Mine's damaged and I have a massive boost leak there with my replacement pipe. Coated everything around it with a nice dusting of oil after ~30,000 miles.
On the N54, I've read that its the same as the oil filter cap o-ring.

Yep, the ARM CP actually came with a new o-ring.
