135i error code 2F6C won't go away

MHD error check keeps getting the code
"2F6C - DME: Exhaust-gas flap, activation"

I've looked at the solenoid and the pipe is connected, at cold starts the exhaust gets quiet after half a minute, so the flap seems to work then, not sure about the 2500 RPM or whatever conditions it should open again and get louder.
Any ideas, need to pull the boot lining and check the other end of the flap system if there's anything going on there.
The previous owner probably tried the golf tee mod and went back to standard, not sure why that error code keeps popping up every time

Checked and the plug was disconnected in the boot, but the pipe with the yellow stripe was connected on both ends. Not sure where the one with a blue stripe goes.
I'm guessing the error code will now go away, not sure how the flap operated with the plug disconnected as it did quiet down on cold starts, but couldn't really hear it close.
