Urgent Help Plz!
Hello,
So long story short, I bought a new set of rims, tires and tpms sensors. the sensors i bought were from tire rack, and are supposed to be from like OEM. (Link posted below) I want to get my new set up installed tomorrow, do i need the tech to "Awake" the new tpms, or should i just go into the I drive settings and have to reset it? Keep hearing mixed stuff on this. Also my car is a 17 F83 competition Pkg. https://www.tirerack.com/tpms/detail...ompetition+Pkg Also if anyone is from North Jersey please recommend any good tiire/rim installation shops! |

Im using the one posted from Tire Rack.
When i called them to ask about compatibility they informed me its the same vendor that makes OEM bmw TPMS but without the BMW Logo. Not sure about the accuracy of his statement. |

Sensors from tirerack should be "woke". Regardless shop can quickly scan them with a tool if you're worried they're not yet woke from storage.

I’ve used the TR TPMS sensors and they work fine out of the box.
Just reset and you’ll be fine. |

Theres no awaking anything.
They're self contained and always "On" Thats why after 5-6 years they typically need replacing from dead batteries inside. Just reset the idrive after they're installed and drive. |

Not true for all sensors. Had a set on another car that are asleep till they are activated with a scanner (used an Ateq scanner/trigger tool). Even the rotation from the wheel moving was not enough to wake them. My understanding is that is done to conserve battery life until they need to be used.

Right. I had to wake/initiate the sensors on my last car, and this was through at least 3 different wheel setups which is why i have an ateq tool in my garage now for this purpose. If "all sensors" could just magically wake up, perhaps i didnt have to spend the $200ish on the tool. Maybe i didnt shake them hard enough per your advice
