Move to Tesla 3 Performance?

I have a 18' M3 Comp. Very happy with the car. My lease is up in Nov of this year. I got quoted almost 1900 for a M5 lease. I drove a Model Y and S recently and was impressed with the performance. I would lean towards a Model 3.. Any reason to go, not go towards Tesla? Thanks in advance.

Ya couple reasons.

Looks ugly, makes no noise.

The looks ugly is an automatic deal breaker for me, i gotta want to look at my car.

In addition to the cars being so poorly built - uninspired styling, subpar interior and hate the rabid cult fandom that surrounds the brand.

Only reasons would be personal. I was kind of on the fence for a while too. No way I'm getting a G80 with that new grille, so started looking around, and thought maybe a Model 3. It's a fantastic car tbh, and has a killer sound system, but the whole electric motor thing with no exhaust note just kills it for me. Even with the most recent price drop, I just can't get around it. Haven't driven the Model Y, but assume it's similar. Build quality has also been an issue, so there's that.

Right now, it looks like an F90 for me. Have you checked swapalease or checked around multiple dealers? No idea how your car was specced, but you can definitely get into one for less than $1900/month.

I might do another test drive of the Tesla, since I have plenty of time to look around, but I just don't think the lack of sound is going to do it for me. I need some kind of growl!

the lack of sound is def something that worries me. I've been a BMW driver for the last 10 years and I'm accustomed to a certain level of quality. The environmental impact is a big factor in going with the Tesla. Also in Florida cooled seats would be nice. 1st world problems

If you have accessible charging in your area, EV is a fantastic DD (paired with your F8x).

As others have mentioned, the build quality is scary. They are just trying to pump out as many cars out as they can at this point. My roommates both have Model 3 P's and both have horrible panel gaps and the paint is questionable in areas.

With that said, if you can live with the initial build quality, I don't think there is a better DD out there. The AP is amazing along with the straight-line speed.

I got a model X and M4. Don't even consider it Tesla's are great daily drivers but if you're into performance they are not it.

The lack of transmission and exhaust ruins the experience. You want to shift thru gears, even in an automatic, and hear barks and an engine roar.

Also, you can lease an m5 for like 1300-1400 easily. Taxes upfront maybe, rolled in would be like 1500. I've seen m8's go for 1600.

PM me I'll put you onto a lease broker that will deliver to your home for a great lease deal he has all the lease numbers in a spreadsheet. You don't have to go back and forth.

Just like Tesla's build quality, as documented by many outside of JD Power.

I rode in my work friend's Tesla 3 and the ride was harsh and uninspiring after running in my F80. It is all up to your personal taste, good luck with your decision.

M8's are going for $1600. M5 around $1200-1300. I suggest checking out swapalease as well.

Not the most attractive cars but the seats are super comfortable. It feels quicker than it really is. I wish it had a heads up display to go with the minimalist dash.

I drive a '16 Comp and it's a sports ride. The Tesla is much more cushy than my car - far from being harsh.

My biggest beef with the Tesla is the range - I know that it gets better on a tank than my M3 but the ease of charging/filling up is not that great. My parents are half way across the nation so planning a trip would be horrible in the Tesla. 400 freeway miles would be nice.

For a daily drive it’s fine. For a fun performance car it’s not. That’s like going to a musical with no audio.

That being said, I don’t get why Tesla get away with their shoddy build quality or rather lack thereof. They don’t even paint correctly...

I drove the S performance to compare this past weekend. Acceleration is ridiculous. Felt nauseated after the drive. There were rattles and alot of wind noise at 100+. Not a great car other than bursts of acceleration below 80.

OOC how much upfront? & how much in rebates & what's msrp. You had to have like a 14% discount or higher to get that payment
My car was low MSRP, (6mt) only options were individual paint, executive and leather.

Shoot for 10% off MSRP before incentives. Total 2500 down including 1st month etc.

I have also been looking into the Tesla Model 3 performance.

These are the issues that prevent me from getting one.

1) Fit and Finish Issues (uneven gaps, unpainted surfaces, car comes scratched) Every single person I know that got a Model 3 had paint issues. Every single one.

2) I would have to revamp my garage if I wanted to charge at home quickly. If you charge from a normal 110 outlet every single day, you'll be fine though.

3) There is a 10 dollar internet fee after your free trial. You cannot teather your phone as I heard.

4) No android auto/apple car play. You basically have to depend on Tesla for their navigation.

5) Nothing on the car designates it's a "PERFORMANCE MODEL" like M, AMG, F, etc. Only way to tell is from wheels and brake calipers.

Other than that, the car actually does drive pretty well. It's fast in a straight line, handles fine in corners, interior is solid, car rattles but all cars rattle nowadays, seats are amazingly comfortable.

Maintenance is basically non-existent (still need AC Service, tire rotation, etc, change battery coolant), and running cost is low. Electricity is cheaper than gas.

It's a pretty amazing machine and a great daily driver.

So about 819 sign & drive that's still a very good deal.

Couldn't get under 880 S&D for a CS or ZCP with DCT. Ended up just buying used because of how cheap they're going now.
