1 Series M-Sport question
I just sold my 128i with the sport package. I was thinking it meant M sport...I was told that was wrong...Can someone explain what the difference is as I am going to move up to the 135 and need to know what to look for.
Thanks! G |

IIRC for the 135' they all have sport package suspension(same as M-sport), M-sport bumpers/sides and Sport package steering wheel
Sport package gets you the sport seats M-sport gets you the Shadowline exterior trim, Anthracite headliner, M-sport steering wheel/ebrake handle and the M-sport trim bits(dead pedal, steering wheel trim and sill plates). wheels are also different per package. I believe the 135s come with the 6pistonF/2pistonR brembos as standard; I have yet to see one without it but if it does that must be without sport/msport package

Ok...1 last question. I just read that the 135is has improved cooling...
What exactly is being cooled better? I want to track my car at high speeds and it maybe a better choice... |

The 135is includes PPK2, which adds a software tune, a larger radiator fan, and an auxiliary radiator.

No, all 135's come with an oil cooler from the factory. It's in the front passenger fender. It is not a 135is addition.
Correction: I think some 135's did not come with the oil cooler. Here's some info about it. https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1242171 Last edited by Esteban; 10-07-2020 at 01:49 PM.. |

This is what I know and I'm sure that some of it is incorrect.
All 135i's had the sport front and rear bumpers, Brembo brakes and sport suspension. The 2008 Sport package (not M-Sport, it was not available) has all the options except black headliner and M logos on the door sills. The 2009+ M-Sport packages included the two things I just mentioned and all the other sport package options. I've seen some 135i's (non M-Sport?) that don't have the shadowline trim, sport seats, M door sills, M wheels (not sure about this one), M steering wheel and M gear shift knob. You wouldn't want this, the sport seats are a must. Last edited by Fakemike; 10-07-2020 at 02:11 PM.. |

my 09' 135i Msport came with
oil cooler, Mbits , dead pedal, sills, sport seats, black headliner, shadow trim, steering wheel, shift knob, and ebrake, sport suspension you could get the sport suspension with the non sport seats also note the sport seats came in either electric or manual ( i have manual) brakes are the same on all 135i models. I will not if you want to make this a track car you will need to upgrade all suspension bits to m3 pieces front and rear and do solid rear subframe bushings. It takes a lot to get them to be competitive. I have talked to alot of guys that actually preferred the 128i as a track car over the 135i they are more reliable and much less maintenace then the n54 motor. Don't get me wrong i love my 135i FBO but it is a heavy car and i have tracked it and do autocross it. With that said it is a fun car and gets compliments everywhere i go, but i've been on fence with selling it lately to build a better track/autocross car Also for track Definitely run better brake fluid and a good pad the stock setup will fade quickly |

Just to confirm what has been said. Have 2008 135i E88 that came with sport suspension, no sport seats, sport steering wheel (replaced with M-sport pkg wheel). Can't address oil cooler issue since Dinan S3 package was installed (includes oil cooler).
Kicker though is that it came with 17" wheels with 205/50 tires & same Brembos as other 135is. |

When you see the word "sport" in any German car or for that matter any other brand, you can count on a slightly lowered stance, 0.5" or so, and of course, a stiffer suspension. There will probably be some cosmetic changes and a fancier interior.

128i M sport pack
* 17in wheels, * thicker M steering wheel, * 135i style front bumper, * 135i style rear bumper with diffuser, * M shift knob. * M dead pedal * M Trim such as tread plates //M on wheels //M on various places in cabin (I think) |

The M Sport suspension came as standard equipment on all 135i/135is models, as mentioned above.

The M sport suspension is not the same as performance suspension, correct?

Yes, you are correct. They are not the same. I had the Performance suspension on my old 135i for a while. A little lower and a little stiffer. According to BMW 10mm lower than the M Sport suspension and spring rates are increased 34%.
