as i posted there, its not the DCT. It is the same joystick as the sport automatic in the new 5, 6, 7 series cars. even the paddles show that its not the DCT. its the same push-pull paddles in regular sport pack cars.
what a misleading post. |

Need the swirlies gone. Still think it's a SLK with kidney grills on it.

i think it is going to look sexy... if you look very close you can make out the shape of the tail and headlights, as well as some of the 'flame' surfaces on the rearm and the hood. looks like the roundels are gone... too bad, i loved them.

Overweight dog with fleas. That folding hardtop turns it into a chick car IMHO. It's now neither a serious sports car, nor a true roadster. The CEO's wife can now drive in comfort year-round. Bigger, heavier, and loaded with electronic crap, which will no doubt be unreliable as hell for a couple of years as they shake the bugs out. No thanks!

Probably a long shot, but any word on how heavy it will be with the folding metal roof? One of the main reasons I got the Z4 shape over an M3 convertible was weight, and the folding metal roof on the new ones just skyrocketed them in weight. At least everything to do with roof mechanisms should be a little bit smaller on this one I guess

With or without camo tapes, we can still see that the sweeping roofline of the current Coupe looks a lot better than the new one.
In terms of folding hardtop, the Ferrari California did a very good job in terms of how smooth the roof flows towards the rear, nothing like the abrupt drop like the SLK or the new Z4. I am sure there will be some nice details here and there for the new Z4, but I think the overall shape does not look as nice as the current Coupe. |

I think it's happening again where i am saving and saving for my next car, think ive found it, then there's always the news that comes later with at least one really major thing that i cant live with (ie. hoping it's not a fat pig).
Otherwise, it looks like you still need to spend a LOT more money to get anything to tickle your ticklish bits as well as the Z4M |

I bought my wife a 2004 Z4 2.5 a few years ago and she loves it. It only has 12,000 miles. Our plan is to wait until the new Z4 gets on Ebay about a year after the debut and I'll sell her 2.5 and get her the new one. I agree it's not exactly my style, but she'll love all the 5 and 6 series goodies and a retractable hardtop. Maybe we'll wait till the M version hits and then I may be interested in driving it.

the softened lines and lack of a manual ebrake, while I don't like, I can accept. However, what I can't come to terms with is a "sports car" with a folding hard-top. Do a soft top roadster and a true coupe. By trying to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, BMW has missed both targets.

This became obvious when the E92 M3 CSL was ditched in favor of an X5M and X6M. You're right. We are the minority, and unfortunately, the minority is no longer BMW's target customer.
