Diesel smell after repair

October 3 I had a fuel pump failure which requires a total fuel system replacement from the tank to the injection system ( 26,000$$) under warranty and 3 months in the shop waiting for parts.
I’ve had my car (18 X5 35d) for two weeks now. There is a diesel diesel fuel smell. I have washed the engine. Presurwashed. Degreaser spray, at work we have a steam want pressure washer. I did this twice. The smell is about 50% better but still there. Any tips? I don’t see any fuel leaks
And when parked in the garage I leave the hood open. The garage smells when the car sits over nite.
It is frustrating as when I take I back to the dealer, they smell nothing. I think maybe they are tired of the car be it was there for 3 months.
Any help on this would be great. If anyone has this repair and had a smell.
Thanks

Being a diesel owner I understand the smells you speak of. I wouldn't park inside the garage due to bringing the smell inside. Park outside to air out. If you have any type of floor mats especially carpet. I suggest removing the driver side(techs more than likely tracked diesel in). A good shampoo and air outside as well. Replace all cabin air filters as they my still retain the diesel fumes. Good luck.

Any drips on the floor? Does it smell like fresh diesel, or more like exhaust?

After a lot of work cleaning and sniffing. I found that the panel under the engine is made of a hard felt like material. I pulled it out and sure enough there is a large stain that has soaked thru. There is no way to get that smell out as Diesel is like an oil. I’ve called the dealer and of course they need to have an appointment
But they will replace it and also check any other soft absorption materials that may be affected. On a side note that belly pan really does a good job of noice reduction. I’m keeping the smelly part off and it sure is loud with it missing.
