Smile Prepping for DIY ER Downpipe install

Have a set of ER downpipes that have been on the fence to install. My local shop I use quoted me 6 hours for install..so with that being said, I have to do the install myself. The only reason I say that is if I dont like the outcome, I can put the OEM downpipes back on.

Current setup:
BM3 Stage 1 93 (will go Stage 2 93 once new charge pipe is installed)
PG Intakes
Soul axle back
NGK 2 colder .022

Watched a few videos and made this guide, if anyone see anything out of line/scope, please let me know.

Attached is the tools that will be purchased since I do have tools...but...ok, they are scattered around the garage and dont want any possible issues on install day.

DIY BMW M5 F10 Downpipe Install
⦁ Loosen 11mm bolts on lower part of OEM downpipes (long extension w/swivel)
⦁ Remove engine cover (pops off)
⦁ Unpop DMW's on both sides
⦁ Use bungiee cords to hold out of the way
⦁ Move asisde coolant tank (T25)
⦁ Disconnect O2 sensor clips (2 on each side)
⦁ Remove PCV lines
⦁ Remove support bridge (2 T25 on each side and 1 ground)
⦁ Remove O2 sensors
⦁ Remove heatshields (3 bolts on each side and ground on passenger side)
⦁ Remove PZV brackets (near high pressure fuel pump: E8 reverse torx)
⦁ Remove bolts that hold turbo to downpipes
⦁ Remove bolts for bracket (4 each side: 6mm allen wrench for bolts on brace for downpipes)
⦁ Remove O2 sensors 7/8 deep
⦁ Pull out downpipes
⦁ Reinstall O2 sensors
⦁ Reverse order and reinstall
⦁ Start M5 to "check"
⦁ Reinstall cover

Any tips/tricks/suggestions.......I am all ears. Most likely the install will be this coming weekend.

Its a straight forward installation.
Most shops charge 6 hours which is standard for shop time.
Each side can be done in 1.5 / 2 hours for an experienced individual that has completed this task multiple times.
Your information is correct.
Good luck

After I posted this I remembered that I shared this with ya already. Ya definitely want to make sure that battery gets disconnected in advance else you could end up with all sorts of DME issues.

Also, you are going to want a thin walled socket for the plugs but check this kit out.

A great tip is to use one of those magnetic pen tools when removing bolts and screws. I couldn't have done it without.

Purchased that kit and had the plugs installed last week. Now I have the tools for next plug round

buy the 22mm o2 sensor removal kit the one with all 3, its $15
MAGNETIC bits or the pen, this is a must. I also recommend some wall putty to keep the screws on the tips of the torx
gloves are nice
depending on miles, the downpipe to turbo clamps could stand to be replaced they are $30 or so a pair not a must be hey why not.
3 hours TOP to do this
