UPDATED**IN-CAR VIDEO: Limerock on 11/1/08 with E92M3

I'm absolutely exhausted...just loaded the video and wanted to post it.
Full write-up will be in the "Track" section.
Short story = the M3 was better than I had anticipated.
Enjoy...
(I suggest watching in 'high quality' here >
)

Awesome video. One of the best ever. Getting around a fire belching Porsche (no matter how slow he is) is always a plus. I especially liked when the loud freight train went by, then you edited them out. That'll teach them.
Very entertaining. Thanks.

That's just on the warm-up laps...afterwards it's 10ish-2ish...I like to pull the wheel, instead of pushing it, to turn.

The lap editing...which I usually don't do...was due to file size. I needed to keep the vid under 100megs. But, out of humility, I wanted to show just how fast they were going when they didpass...afterwards, they'd just be fading blips anyway.

Glad you guys enjoyed it...more to come.

Be good,
TomK

Fantastic videos! I'm supposed to be working, but couldn't pass these up. Thanks for sharing. Looks like you ran with MDM on; it was flashing coming out of corners. Did you find that (DSC cutting power) intrusive? Looking forward to your write-up.

Nice videos, great driving. Thanks for sharing. Keeping up with and then passing a Z06 is no small feat. Next year track pads for me. Did you have any pad transfer or brake shutter after the track day/days?

I am able to post videos of entire sessions at megavideo.com for free. However there's no hi-res feature.

Five questions:
How did you know your coolant temp?
What was the outside temp?
Were you wearing a firesuit or was that just a normal jacket?
How do you like the sport steering wheel?
What info did it give you that the rest of us mortals don't have access to?

Thanks, man.

I had steering on stiff, EDC on stiff (also tried normal but didn't really find it much different, I guess the active handling stiffened things up), and DSC off.

MDM was on, though, and it was getting a bit intrusive later in the day as speeds increased and the tires were cooking/fading. I'd surmise that I could have shaved a second off by turning MDM off.

I will say that it was very difficult to induce oversteer with the MDM on...just wouldn't happen..the car tends to be neutral/slight front push with it on...actually, a pretty good nanny that doesn't make itself known as much as some other "competitive" modes. For someone who isn't comfortable with the car or is new to the trackday scene, MDM would be a good safety net.

I'll answer your questions one by one...

Did you have any pad transfer or brake shutter after the track day/days? Pad transfer?...yes, but only what was supposed to be transfered forproper braking. There has been no shudder or adverse effects from the pads and rotors. I'm going to leave the pads in for a week so the cold pads scrape off the material that's on the rotor...then I"ll swap back to stock pads. I used...at most... 1/4 of the pads.
I also only used Pagids in front...left the stock pads in the rear...no issues.

Five questions:
How did you know your coolant temp?-displayed on my wheel
What was the outside temp? - 60ish?
Were you wearing a firesuit or was that just a normal jacket? - Northface mountain parka...
How do you like the sport steering wheel? - I really liked the flashing bars on the wheel, otherwise I'd never know the redline. I also like seeing the coolant/oil temps. With the gloves I wear, the alcantara is not an issue but I like it on the street. Instead of mounting gauges (I had 6 of them in my STI) I chose to mount the wheel...I'd do it again, too.
What info did it give you that the rest of us mortals don't have access to?
- I only use the coolant/oil temps on the middle display...and the shiftlights...it was great.
