Transmission problem?

when ever i turn off my car after reversing or coming out of gear, it will make this sound as if something is loose or shaky, the sound is gone if i turn on the car and just turn it off without engaging in any gears

brought it to BMW told them the problem, and they told me it was a sensor? and got it "fixed" apparently not

but would like to know what you guys think of this problem?
i usually only hear this when i park in my garage as its more isolated so i can hear the sound

What type of transmission are we talking about here? Steptronic? SMG? MT? If it's the MT, it's most likely the dual mass flywheel, which is a normal clunk sound, especially if the clutch is engaged in Neutral when shutting the ignition.

Easy test: Next time you turn off the car have the clutch pushed in (pedal to floor). If the "rattle" is gone, it's normal and of no concern.

I have clutch rattle when disengaging from first at slow speeds (i.e. like when creeping).

Asked my shop foreman about it and he said its normal clutch behavior.
