How to turn of Check Engine Light due to catless downpipes F10 M5 (no power tune)

Hey all, there seems to be a number of people (myself included) who are very happy with the power of our cars but not the sound. In my opinion, adding catless downpipes with the stock exhaust creates the best sound. I have the M-Performance (made by Akrapovic) exhaust and it sounds amazing.

Some of the benefits of downpipes include the car staying cooler, breathing easier, noticeable gain in power, and of course the sound. However, without a tune, you get the dreaded CEL light. People thought there was something wrong with the car since I had it on constantly. I got tired of explaining the reason so I did some digging on a very easy to implement solution.

How do you do this you ask? You buy a tune. What you have to do is you buy any tune from Bootmod3 (BM3) and flash it. When you do so, they store your stock tune in the system.

Then select your stock tune and select "Config".

From there, you can modify a bunch of things. I chose to turn off the cold start since it was ridiculously loud, the top speed limiter, and the catalytic monitors.

After you're done, scroll down and "Save Changes". Navigate back and select "Flash" > "Just Flash (No DME Lock)". Once complete, you will have no more CEL light and any other options selected.

I've had this for about a month and am very happy, hope it helps!

FAQ: Will warranty be voided? No idea, I don't have one.
Why not use the power too? I did for a bit and found myself doing 20-30mph more than before on average. Aka what is considered "criminal speed" here
