There is a post by a BMW tech somewhere out there and he says it's a royal bitch. I found it here or on z4-forum i believe. I don't have the bookmark anymore, but there is a procedure out there. Also, probably in the TIS.

If you're going to do a coilover install, I highly recommend the Rogue Engineering rear shock mounts.
They invert the bolts so you never have to remove the roof again. First time I had BMW do the installation. Next time I can do it on my own should I need to do any changes.
