Engine sound upgrade only - Eventuri plenum only is enough? or require intake+airbox?

Hello

I'm looking to upgrade only the sound of the engine when revving and will not need any performance upgrade. It sounds like eventuri plenum is the best bet for sound compare to other solutions because of the full carbon. I'm thinking of buying the plenum but will like to know if having the intake + airbox will make the engine sound better? I don't want to spend money on it if those two items only provides performance upgrade which I don't need.

Thanks

"Upgrade the sound of the engine" while ANY after market exhaust drowns out the engine noises….

But hey, it's your 3K, you spend it how you want.

^maybe he is really into the ITB induction noise, which one of my friends is as well. He just wants the induction noise and keeps his exhaust stock.

some strong words there. But whatever float his boat, is his money. Some people really like the induction sound.

I mean this is the same issue I bring up every time someone tries selling these things(carbon plenum); it's a lot of fucking money for no noticeable noise unless you have a stock muffler and no HP gains without the elbow from eventuri….bringing your cost up around/above the 3K mark.

I'm function over form; this is the MOST form and and least function out of all the things.

I have a tubi exhaust which can get quite loud at low rpm. For High rpm it seems these plenums may help with the sound and I don't mind spending that money on that given there's a good tunnel to rev up the car on my way home to appreciate the potential thundering sound

Living in Hong Kong we don't have many streets where we can drive the car fast so driving a V8 here is mainly for the engine roar between 1st and 2nd gear at high rpm. Getting performance parts like a supercharger will never see its full potential here unfortunately

I understand about you being in another country, but I bet you'd see a huge improvement with a Harrop supercharger; down low TQ AND you'll have the whine of a super charger spinning up when full throttle.

It's your money man, and I see your point, but I think you could do so much more hah!

I have straight pipes and I definitely can hear the sound difference just by adding Armaspeed intake system. I also have a Carboproject plenum and yes my exhaust drowns out just the plenum.

Who wants to put $5 on the over/under bet? I say Duke is at least 45 based on the fact he signs each post "-Duke" the same way my dad signs text messages "-Dad".

Classic.

I'm closer to 50 than 45. So it's got nothing to do with age. Lol

I'm 34, but I guess ad hominems are easier then actually critiquing my thought process in what I said.

It's ok man, I remember being 24 too, you'll grow out of it….or not.

Try my sound tube mod: way cheaper than carbon plenum and sounds a lot louder. No issues whatsoever.

Interesting mod, would be awesome if you could throw an install thread together. My main concerns would be water drainage and how loud it is when just cruising.

Also plumbing the tube directly into the air filter that way, won't it suck in unfiltered air from cabin/dash area?

End of tube is sealed off with a rubber diaphragm that is responsible for accentuating the sound. No air leaks at all. The product I used is called Foster SC mod, designed for supercharged cars who want more SC whine.

Water drainage hasn't been an issue so far even with my cowl delete.

For the cruising sounds it is very mellow. If the induction noise is too loud for your taste you can tone it down to your liking using this video:

This sound tube is a very interesting mod! It's giving me some ideas. How many % louder would you say it is with the sound tube installed?

I would say about 3 to 4 times louder than stock. Definitely louder than carbon plenum. For me it was too loud so I used 3 glove layers to dampen the sound. You can play around with how many layers you want to get the perfect volume.

Won't that cause air leaks? Or the tube is supposed to be airtight?

Any sound difference plumbing it into the filter vs plumbing it into the plenum?
