Tire question

So I found someone selling a rear set of the Michelin PS 4s in my size for $500 for the pair but I'm concerned about this crack on one of the tires. Is this an issue?

Pretty sure it's not a crack, but a cut. Impossible to know from a photo how deep it is. It may go to the belts. If all I had was that photo, I would not personally buy that tire. If you trust the seller, ask him to shove playing card in the cut and photograph it.

It's probably fine - not much deeper than the tread. How much are these new that you are willing to pay $250 for one with a defect like that?

They run about $460 each. They would be my offer to him for both. Honestly I need to not be cheap with the only thing keeping me from finding a guardrail on the road. Just exploring options while trying to keep money in my pocket. Inflation hurts 😂

I wouldn’t chance that without a professional eval.

$460? What size? I priced them <$400.

UPDATE: Costco Michelin sale September

UPDATE:
I "heard" that Costco's next sale on Michelins will start September 1.

Am in SD also, running 19" staggered. Ouch yes 20s are high. Costco is at $407 and $415 on Michelin PS 4S. PS AS 4 still<$400. Would go to Costco at next Michelin sale (current sale is Bridgestone) or Discount Tire at Labor Day sale. Is my plan. Can't wait to get rid of these runflats!

Yes

I have the dunflops on the car now from when I brought it last year. I new they sucked but they were also new installed. I figured once I burn them down I would replace them and that time is now.

Looks like I'll go with the FK510's and try them out. From my research they are way better than what I have and I'm not pushing my 640 to the point of these Michelins. I go from Navy base to home in the land yacht lol

Don’t be cheap with a cruicial item that maintains your safety …. It’s too important. Tyres should always be in good rolling condition. Ok it may be through the tread but it only takes a bump or something sharp to put pressure on this slash and perhaps cause a blowout …. It’s not as if he’s selling the, to you for 100…..
if it were me…. Just get new tyres.
