FS:2008 E90 M3 Manual, 139K Miles, Satin Black Wrap, New RB@138k, New TA@100k -$21.5k
August 13th, 2023 update: I just got my car back from Bavarian Auto Werke (located in Orland Park, IL) and had the rod bearings replaced, new engine mounts, oil changed, brake fluid flush, transmission fluid flush, air/cabin filters. The work was done @138,024 miles and an itemized receipt of work is available upon request. There was no apparent wear in the old rod bearings and I also have them on hand if future buyers would like to see them. I've owned this car for ~5.5 years since March 2018. There were quite a few owners prior to me (8), which I know could be a huge negative. I've owned between ~91k - 139k miles. I have a clean title in hand. I've tried to maintain the car over the past five years. Larger maintenance includes throttle actuators replaced around 100k miles, new OEM clutch & fly wheel replaced at 129k miles, rod bearings @ 138k miles. I've reviewed many of the other posts and unfortunately, I can't provide the same detail. I bought the car as I wanted a "fun" car and my Singaporean buddy from college turned me onto Ms as he owned an M5 in college. I'm selling it as I'm ready for a change. Some highlights below: •Carfax report ran on 4/14/2023 and is available upon request, along with all receipts for items listed below •I also just had the car re-wrapped at the beginning of April in satin black. I bought the car wrapped in a matte black and the wrap was coming off. I had no idea what the condition of the OEM paint was like. Thankfully the paint was in pretty good condition. The last two pictures attached are of the OEM paint condition (these pictures were taken by the guy who did the wrap so I don't have pictures of the entire car) •Brake fluid flushed / changed @54,804 miles (Carfax) •Brake fluid flushed / changed @ 66,352 miles (Carfax) •Brake fluid flushed / changed @ 76,748 miles (Carfax) •Tires @102,114 miles – current tread: 4-5/32nd” on rear and 5-6/32nd” on front •Last two oil & filter changes done by myself: 4/16/22 @125,766 miles and 3/12/23 @134,458 miles – I used Castrol TWS Oil Change Kit bought from ECS Tuning •Front breaks and rotors replaced on 3/30/2018 @ 90,944 miles (receipt in hand) •ABS sensor and battery replaced on 12/28/2018 (receipt in hand) •Windshield replaced on 11/4/19 (receipt in hand) •Throttle actuators replaced on 10/11/19, unfortunately the exact odometer reading wasn’t listed on my receipt but I can call my mechanic to see if he has it on hand if desired (receipt in hand). I replaced them about a year and a half after I bought the car and I’ve averaged under 10k miles per year so it was around or under 100k miles •Alternator replaced on 1/3/22 (receipt in hand) •Several sensors replaced on 3/28/22 (receipt in hand) •OEM Clutch kit and flywheel replaced on 8/25/22 by DuPage Auto & Truck Repair @ 129,041 miles (receipt in hand) •Rear window regulator replaced on 9/16/22 by DuPage Auto & Truck Report @ 130,000 miles (receipt in hand) •Rod bearings replaced, new engine mounts, oil changed, brake fluid flush, transmission fluid flush, air/cabin filters @138,024 miles (receipt in hand). Being a 2008 with 139k miles there are minor ascetical problems. Back right bumper has a small bump in it from a recent fender bender. It's not noticeable but you can see it when it's pointed out. When I got the car re-wrapped, I wanted the bumper fixed and the guy said he thought it was minor enough where he could heat mold it and it wasn't worth replacing. He ended up wrapping over it and didn't fully get it back to smooth (without confirming with me that I was ok with this as the job was being done). The front wheel well liners could be replaced at some point (they are somewhat tattered). Some of the external trim could be replaced if desired. At the end of the day, I want a fair price and I want the future owner to be happy with what they are buying. I’m happy to discuss price with any seriously interested buyer. Firstly great pictures and good clear description - you are already ahead of a lot of the low-effort listings on here/other classified sites and as a buyer I appreciate the candor even if you are not an enthusiast.
For your reference, here is the full options list your car came with https://bimmer.work/vin/e8feac1226fa...5f08f/options/ Some points to hopefully help you out: On the positive side, you have some things going for you - the car is a 6 speed manual which generally commands a higher premium than an equivalent DCT (i.e. an Automatic) M3. The car has a "single hump" dashboard, i.e. no navigation, which is a slight positive to some buyers. You have completed the throttle actuators replacement which is one of the maintenance items most asked about, and a new clutch which is plus too. If you can provide details and receipts of all the other maintenance items during your ownership, that would be greatly helpful too. Same with carfax history to show history of damage/accidents. The more information you can provide the more peace of mind enthusiast buyers will have. - I would want to know condition of tires, remaining tread etc - frequency of oil changes going back as far as possible - other consumables like rotors, pads, filters, fluids, when they were done etc. On the downsides, The first question you'll get is "have the rod bearings been replaced". At this mileage, this is a valid question - on this generation of M3 this is the one big ticket maintenance item that buyers look for. You are correct that a lot of owners is not desirable though it can be offset somewhat by excellent maintenance history - so it depends if you can provide this. Mileage is a factor and 135k is definitely one of the higher mileage cars where maintenance info is even more important to most buyers Also personally I'm not a fan of wraps unless extensive/detailed pictures of the paint can be provided prior to wrapping (new owners like to know what's hiding under the vinyl). The market on these cars is beginning to cool and there has been evidence of that based on recent sales. Very rare / very low mileage / desirable spec cars are still going for big money but most cars are selling for less than a year ago. For example, this E90 is similar to yours but has less than a third of the mileage https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2008-bmw-m3-sedan-34/ It was bid to $31.7k + fees and did not meet reserve Another comparable E90 to yours, this had similar maintenance, 40k less miles and was listed at $24k before selling. https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2001235 Post as much maintenance and history info as you can, and keep doing your research on the classifieds here and places like https://www.m3list.com/e90-m3 Personally I think your listed price is quite on the high side - but it's better you started high and are willing to lower it! It will also depend on what more information you're able to provide. GLWS! |

MMMM6GC thank you so much for the detailed comment, it was super helpful. I've updated the post with many of your suggestions and also lowered the price. I'll be posting elsewhere too. Let's see what kind of interest there is...

I think I had chatted you on Autotrader. I'm out in Colorado so it'd be a fly in and drive home situation for me. Have you had a PPI done or has it been inspected at a recent service? I know you were doing your own oil changes so I'm guessing it hasn't been in the shop recently. Thanks!

bump for a good seller. i went and saw the car in person and even set up a PPI, but ended up deciding that I want a DCT. Car is in good shape for the mileage, especially the interior. Drove well, no weird noises or vibrations, pulled hard.
