Shake transmission fluid before use?
I got the f15 transmission kit with ZF fluid. After the diy, I realized on the bottle that I should shake the fluid before use. I didnt. Is it imperative to do so? I don't see any suspension in the fluid so I figured it isn't necessary. Thoughts?

There are some additives in motor oil and ATF that can collect on the bottom. You may have seen sediment in the bottom of an oil jug. If the kit was shipped to you it was shaken and likely didn't settle out, if it was going to settle out, unless you had the fluid a couple of weeks before use. It is not a big deal, like the stuff they say about vitamins in vegetables losing effective if you go 14 seconds past the idle steamed cook point. NO DOUBT the new fluid is far better than the wear particle count in what you drained.

Thanks. Don't think it's that scientific either. The way we have to pump the fluid into the transmission, I suspect the drawing tube would suck in a good amount of additive goodies from the bottom anyway.
