I should also point out, one of my e-mail addresses on that e-mail is wrong. Can you guess which dealer made the mistake?

I see no harm in not having a order number (from dealer #1) so early since your delivery date is not till August...
Why would you want a car built and stored till you pick it up in August...I would prefer to have a 'fresh' unit built closer to the delivery date. |

They won't literally hold a car, they will hold the production until reasonable time before the ED. The production # begets a VIN#. A piece of a paper is just a piece of paper. Deposits can be returned.

Really?...I always thought that production numbers are issued when production is 'planned' and if you are picking up later, then you will just get a different number closer to the pick up date.

Honestly, I've heard so many different accounts, from CAs and BMWNA customer relations...I don't know which to believe.
But I know one thing for certain...a production number is proof that I have a car on my desired delivery date range.
