call around and see which dealer in your area has the earliest available allocation. the only faster way i can think of is to search for a dealer-ordered car that suits you and is already available or on its way.

I figured out exactly what I wanted and then had my CA look at the inventory they could trade for (which was the entire East Coast). One car matched my desires save for two small things I could live without and one thing the dealer can install. Then it turned out that the car wasn't actually on the lot yet, but had just completed production, so they "traded" for it and it got diverted to me. And now it's on the Tagus somewhere near Southampton. I jumped about 2-3 weeks in the process.

My dealer had an allocation that was still modifiable. (status 111) I went in on Monday and put down my deposit and now the car is scheduled to be complete next Thursday. So if you can find a dealer with a modifiable allocation that's your best bet to get exactly what you want. If you're not that picky then a dealer trade might work and be even faster.

This makes me wonder...what feels better? The anticipation of waiting and getting, or the feeling of having once you received the car?
