Having come from an E46 M3, are you satisfied with the power, the general 'spirit' of the 135i?

the drive was uneventful. i-10 is pretty damn boring when you haven't made it through the break-in.

having said, that, i gave the car a great workout and took it up to about 90 several times in 4th, 5th, and 6th.

so far, yes. i've kept the car to 5k rpm and under 100. i've got about 350 miles on it now so it'll be a little while before i can really get a feel for it. i will say that the low-end torque is awesome and that it's entirely too easy to get up to speed. the car feels tighter than my old car did (not surprising since it was a 7 year old convertible). it feels very "darty". i noticed that i was very susceptible to cross-winds on the highway. the suspension feels nearly the same to me. the clutch is lighter and has a shorter take-up. the gear shifter is shorter and works great, though i prefer the feel of the physical knob from my e46. i've not experienced any of the "notchiness" mentioned in other threads. the cdv has not made my driving experience bad. i'll likely end up removing it but i don't think it's as awful as others have posted.

looks-wise, i love the 1er. call me weird. i don't know why so many people hate on it. i think it looks awesome, especially in profile and rear quarter views. my interior is black leather w/ grey poplar. the wood looks good when it's not overexposed to sunlight. it can take on a pretty brownish hue. in normal lighting, i think it looks great. having said that, i think i'd probably prefer the piano black trim. i ordered my car sight-unseen. i've seen the aluminum at the dealership and don't really care for it personally but it does provide a nice contrast. bottom line, i don't think you can go wrong w/ any of them. it's great to have all these choices.

hope that helps. i'll be happy to answer anyone's questions as best i can. thanks for sharing in my excitement!

Thanks for your impressions. Some months ago, the unter-CEO of the company for which I work, 'got wind' I had ordered a 135, insisting I drive his M3. Fine, if you insist.:biggrin:This guy is a total A-type, races go-karts, knows how to drive fast. We had a blast, well, at least, I did. After having been in his M3, I was delighted to find the 135 equally violent.

Thanks again.

i have a sneaking suspicion that your ceo will be feeling a strong urge to replace his m3 if you ever give him the opportunity to drive your car. i can't wait to get mine broken in and take it to the track.
