In case anyone is still on the fence about getting a 1 ordered....

My saleslady called me today to update me on the status of my car, after talking about that she mentioned that I was *VERY* smart to get my order in when I did. They are getting a limited production of 1's this year <very large dealership btw>, and they are sold out through the end of summer on pre orders already. Very late summer or early Fall is the next slot.

Just fyi, if you are on the fence I would not wait to long to place an order. She said they sold like hotcakes. :w00t:

The dealer told me there was only going to be 10,000 1 series made for the USA in 2008. I did not believe them. I just thought they were trying to get me to order the car on the spot. Perhaps for a change the dealer’s lips moved and it was NOT a lie.

What I was told at the Chicago Auto Show was that they intended to make about 20K 1er Coupes/Convertibles worldwide in the 2008 MY. (Anywhere from 10 to 12K destined for the US market.) Production of 1ers (all models) has been consolidated in Leipzig and if demand falls for 3/5 doors while demand increases for 2 doors, the plant can vary the mix accordingly. The Leipzig plant is pretty effeciently utilized currently; any large volume increase in production would probably entail building additional capacity - not something you'd want to do at the moment.

I just find it kind of funny that lots of people who never took the time to go look at the car or just judged it by what they thought it should be are going to be SOL when they see how great it looks in person, and someone with it blows their socks off with it performance wise. No allocation for you!

When I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago, I took an existing vehicle the dealer had on order and modified it. They were saying then that the next slot was looking like late July or early August. I'm glad I took the slot May slot even though it was a little sooner than I wanted the car. I'd probably have killed myself and worn out the 800 number waiting that long....or longer.

Apparently, you're not the only one who would wear it out.. I just called the 1800 number and it was busy.

I think it will be interesting to see what the 2009 MY brings. IMO it is BMW's intention for the 2008 to be different from the other years. In addition to the engraving, book and certificate what might the differences be?

I don't know about only 2500 135's but the 10,000 is fairly true, I have seen that quoted on all the BMW boards and my CA today confirmed too.....

but 1 of 2500, that is too sweet if it holds to be true!

I am glad I didn't put off ordering my 135 either... I almost didn't go to the dealer that day... was going to wait but something made me just say screw it and drive over anyway...now i shld hve my car by this Friday...
